Before arriving I had seen the menu and knew it was expensive compared with other restaurants offering similar food in the area.
When we entered we were greeted by a bustling and noisy bar with lots of patrons having a good time.
I assumed there was seating away from the bar, but it's all one big room with no sound damping and so you're basically eating adjacent to a bar. Its loud and you have to yell to speak to folks in your party. The booth was also very small. I am 5'6" and 145 pounds and I just barely got in next to my wife who is of average size.
The service was prompt and the waitress kept our glasses full and delivered the appetizers and entrees in a reasonable time frame.
The food was good, with smallish portions for for the price. $24 fish fry with french fries was an adequate portion, but at those prices the portions need to be larger or the food better be outstanding. A fish fry at a local Elks club could rival this one for half the price.
The special was a fettuccine dish with cream pesto for $28. It's too expensive for this area....
The flatbread $17 was delicious but also very expensive. My daughter had a Caesar salad with chicken which was large and delicious, but $6 to add chicken? The bowl it came on was decorative, but not functional as the opening slants downward and all the salad falls out. We had to ask for a plate.
Overall it was a good experience, but I would not go back right away. The price of food does not meet the overall value of the experience when taken as a whole. We're the dining area quiet and more comfortable it would come close. I feel as if they have taken great pains to impress with flashy decor and attractive looking food, but more emphasis on the substance of the experience would help.
I'd say it's worth a try, but maybe wait a while until things get...
Read moreWanted to give them a shot despite hearing poor reviews from family and friends. Will not be returning. They gave my fiancé the wrong meal (not a huge deal, he kept it- fish ended up not being cooked through) and my pasta came with so much water in it. The water rinsed any flavor off the pasta and each chicken lifted out was dripping. The tomatoes were the good part of the meal. The broccoli held their spices in but it tasted like a rancid flavored soup. Left a yelp review and the owner messaged privately basically saying "well you ate it didn't you?"....I did not lol I ate a little and for the first time in my life didn't take left overs home. The photo looks to have been eaten but they had these slanted bowls with one really high edge so it's kind of an illusion. It was taken after I had enough, so some is gone. Had my fiancé try it and he gagged on it. Was told in those private messages that the meal I ordered was taken off the menu for being "misunderstood"...I expected edible food so I guess I did misunderstand. It's a shame their food is bad and they have a poor attitude toward any critics, the north country really could have used a good restaurant. The place itself was very clean and pretty, the waitress was sweet but clumsy and ignored us for her phone a bit. We had a reservation and had no wait...
Read moreI was very excited to go to this restaurant for a big celebration and enjoyed my time here. The prices were reasonable and the seating was nice.
I was a little disappointed by the service with not getting water served at our table. We tried calling over a server a few times and it went unnoticed. The restaurant was practically empty and it took a very long time before we were helped after we had to ask a different server who seemed annoyed to help our table.
The other part that was disappointing was we ordered bruschetta and I didnât recall it having pesto listed in the dish and it was added without knowledge when a member of our group had an allergy. The pesto added to the dish did bring out the quality and made the dish look more presentable and very appealing. The other member at our table did say it was very good but I was sad because I wanted to eat it. The server was nice and discounted us due to this which was very helpful.
I would recommend going to this restaurant because the food was good and it was cozy, even though our group had...
