We have been here twice now for birthday celebrations, once with 6 and once with 12 people. Both times majority of the food was amazing. The first visit my daughter did not like the child’s portion of the Alfredo because of the way the cheese smelled and tasted. Most kids aren’t used to the “smelly” cheeses when ordering Alfredo. She opted to have some French fries in place of it and she didn’t like those because the grease may have been old and they didn’t taste right to the adults at the table either. My mom was celebrating her 70th birthday on our first visit and she chose a cheesecake for her celebration dessert. We were charged for her dessert and I thought that was odd because I’ve never been charged for a birthday dessert at a restaurant (on the actual day of someone’s birthday especially). I asked about it and the server said that they do charge for the birthday desserts.
On our second visit, we had 6 people and we all ordered filet mignon steaks in celebration of my late father’s birthday. The steaks were all amazing, except one was supposed to be medium and was very rare. They took it back and cooked it some more. We also got onion peels and cheese curds which were great. They did not taste like the grease was bad like the French fries on our first visit.
I would definitely recommend this place for steaks and sides but not...
Read moreWe stayed in neighboring Mishicot for a week and were lucky enough to have a friend who could babysit for the night. My husband found this place online and the menu looked good, so we made a reservation. I am so glad we did!
The whole place is old fashioned, to say the least, but we like quaint decor. The bar was cozy and there were a few tables overlooking Lake Michigan. We had a cocktail and moved to our table. We ordered an appetizer, the Gib's shrimp (amazing!), a bottle of local wine and two entrees. The wine, called Big Terra, was a bit more fruity than I would normally like, but it worked with our meal. The winery was in very close proximity to the restaurant, so I am willing to give them plenty of latitude. Local is always better.
The entrees come with bread and choice of soup or salad. We both had the baked French onion soup was good, though it could have been a bit cheesier. I had the walleye, which was very good, and my husband had the lamb chops which were outstanding. We had the turtle cheesecake for dessert.
The service was amazing, too. If we ever come back to this area, we will definitely...
Read moreSpectacular food and outstanding service! The German themed menu on Wednesday and Thursday is unique and excellent, we love the Sauerbraten and have a hard time ordering anything else, even though there are so many good options to choose from. The Friday fish options are always done to perfection, one of the best places for fish in the area. The views over Lake Michigan are awesome and lend to the quaint peaceful atmosphere in the dining areas. This is a great place to relax and unwind after a hectic week. Last, but far from least, the waitstaff is top notch! We've been here quite a few times and the staff are always friendly and attentive. We see the same staff over and over so obviously Gib's treats them well and they like what they do. It shows in how well they treat their guests. Gib's is one of our favorite places to eat. Always a wonderful experience and well worth the views, food, and service. Reasonable prices for the high quality of...
