I was warned by people about the proprietor of this deli. Although the sandwiches were not bad I would not call them exceptional. I decided to give them a try anyway. It seemed OK and as I was leaving I forgot my railroad shirt that I had had for 40 years. After I got home I realized that I didn't have it and called and told them that I had left it they found it and said that they would hold it for me. I told them that I had to leave town that day and I wouldn't be back for three weeks to a month, as I was having my fourth grandchild and had to fly to Florida for the birth. Again I was assured it would be fine. It's not as if this is a large place with lots of employees were someone could accidentally lose it so I trusted them. When I returned from Florida I went back to the store the next day and they were looking for my shirt but somehow could not find it. I asked the proprietor and she said oh we have students who are working, And it may have gotten thrown away when they were cleaning up. They continue to look around and then I asked if possibly it was in the back and she seemed perturbed and she said "that's where I live". I was thinking to myself well that would've been a good place to put it if you really cared about your customers. I also think she knew exactly what happened to it as she was not saying very much. She seemed very self oriented and not concerned about anyone else. I had come prepared to get more sandwiches and other things as a thank you to them for holding onto it but apparently they are not very good at protecting your belongings. I just wonder if there's some sort of underlying problem that I am not aware of that the proprietor was having. I was very disappointed because of this and wondered if this is the way to keep customers. Not only that and I was not expecting anything but nothing was offered as well such as possibly a sandwich or anything to make up for it. Obviously I lost faith in this business and I would not recommend them. As I said food was mediocre but I don't trust the establishment. Normally I don't fill out one of these unless it's really really good or really really bad but under the circumstances I felt I needed to share this.
Subnote: The place is under new management this year so may have improved. May try it out again when I head up there after hibernating in Florida....
Read moreI can't even begin to describe how amazing these subs are. We wait all year, every year for Joyce to re-open. The quality of the bread and other ingredients is outstanding; well worth the price. The homemade desserts are also incredible. Peanut butter balls and brownies are both to die for.
No, it's not Subway either. They don't offer miracle whip, ranch dressing, massive amounts of sub toppings or whatever else you want to mask the taste of poor quality. They mean it when they say "OLDE" Corner Deli. We've also seen them shut down incredibly rude customers with out-of-control children wrecking shelves while they wait, which is enough to keep me coming back every time we are in the area. Joyce has immense passion for the service she provides and, like any other exceptional artisan, demands respect for herself, her employees, and their establishment. Highly...
Read more100% best subs between buffalo and erie. edit, how do people think that $7.79 is too pricey for a sub? the loaded one is no more than 9 after tax. do people not realize there is tax, or do they not realize how much a sub costs somewhere that isn't like subway.... The Italian is so good. It must be the rolls they use and the sub oil cause they are the best sandwiches I ever tried, and I work at a takeout restaurant lol. Idc where u are or what you're doing, u have to try one if you're close. Oh and the price isn't high, it's like $8 for a 12" 3 meat and cheese sub, you gotta figure they aren't making any money off you with that price, cause they gotta get everything shipped to them and close for the winter so take care of this place. It's a diamond...
