Good doesn't begin to describe the food here, and the amount you get is pretty crazy. A few years ago I found this place when everything else was shut down, and I'm so glad I did.
The catfish is fantastic. A simple cornmeal breading gives it a crispy bite with a tender and flaky interior, and the thin ends of the filets curl and brown in the oil, creating a nice crunchy treat.
The red beans and rice are tender without being starchy, with just the right amount of green onion on top to give it that kick.
The sausage in the jambalaya stands up to the heavy flavors and is a standout on its own.
The grits are creamy and buttery.
All of these are customizable with shrimp and other toppings that bring them from simple, but still delicious, dishes to fantastic fare that you'll only share because there's too much to eat on your own.
And that's not all. Those were just the gluten free options. There's still crawfish etouffee, gumbo and cornbread. While I haven't had the pleasure of trying them, my family has and they tell me that all of it is just as good as the rest of menu.
I know that this review is verbose, but if you take the time to visit this little gem tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, you'll quickly discover just why I can't shut...

Technically true advertising considering the recipes used, but the food tastes as though it's either cooked by people who have not had actual food in Louisiana, or they've maybe adjusted the recipes to accommodate what they perceive as a can't take spice WNY audience?
Ordered the Red Beans and Rice, Gumbo and Cornbread. The sausage is the star of the show because it's where all of the flavor is, but you only get a few pieces of it. Once it's gone you're left with barely seasoned red beans that don't have any sauce/gravy that you're accustomed to with this recipe, and the rice can't carry that. The gumbo was bland as well. We could absolutely eat it but none of the typical spices were used, or they were used in severe moderation.
I think I may have had a higher estimation of this food if I hadn't traveled to New Orleans last year and had a week of Red beans and rice and gumbo all around the city. If you love food that is well seasoned, this is not it. Or maybe order extra sausage so you can have spice with every bite. I am assuming they are just buying the sausage and cooking it, whatever brand it...
Read moreStopped by for a "snack" because we already had dinner plans. Our first time here in the cozy restaurant. We did not even know this place existed. We were greeted by one of the owners and she understood we were not there for a full meal. She split our shrimp po'boy on two separate plates because she knew we were sharing. The po'boy was delicious...the bread, the shrimp, the coleslaw and remoulade sauce were fresh and tasty. Our side order of cornbread was delicious as well. The other owner brought us a taste of their crawfish etoufeé which had a rich, deep, flavor. There were two other couples eating and I heard both comment on how good the food was. I wish we didn't live 5 hours away, as this would be a restaurant I would love...
