We love Mexican and was excited to hear a new place was open. Given the Mexican restaurant in downtown Plattsburgh is pretty bad, we were hoping for a decent place. Was very disappointed. Only 2 tables taken and waitress spent more time with Boyfr who sat at the bar. When food came out she took it to the other table and other couple said hmm not what we ordered. They were seated 15 min after we were. Not sure how a waitress can mix up 2 tables’ orders in empty restaurant. Fajitas were not good as the chicken and steak came as one large piece hubby had to keep cutting. Never saw Fajitas as whole pieces of meat. 3 meat Enchilada dish only choice was 1 meat. Who wants 3 the same meat? Sorry but who wants 3 chicken? They wouldn’t change it. So I ordered the Burrito instead asked for topping to change to tomato/cheese. It came covered in crème sauce. I scraped off crème and ate most of it. It wasn’t bad. I got fries instead of beans. It was a disaster. Probably would have had a more positive review for cook/food but waitress was a real turn off. Hard to like your meal when it’s so screwed up from the start. We really wanted to like it but can’t go back. I mentioned the mistakes to waitress just so she was aware, and wow, she gave us attitude. Well that...
Read moreNot all temptations are good. My wife and I have enjoyed Mexican food from around the country. Seeing that a new Mexican restaurant opened in the area got us excited and tempted to try it. We weren’t sure if this is a different take on Mexican, but it was a reminder as to why we make our own at home. The best way to describe the food, is an American / Italian / Mexican fusion. If that works for others, cool. Uncooked corn tortillas with fajitas mixed in a red (tasted like pizza sauce). No sour cream, no salsa. Cold, diluted, water saturated seasoned rice. Tails still on the shrimp, but hidden within the sauce. The chicken and meat were unseasoned and poorly cut. Over priced and low quality food. 7$ for a plate of chips (no refills) and small serving of guacamole and the same red sauce (small ramekin size). We have never paid for chips at a Mexican restaurant. 4$ for a soda - bottled. Total cost 60$ for two meals and chips and soda. Service was ok. They may want to check the filter on their water. Many can say, why not speak up at the time? Well, you can’t fix what they were doing, and we aren’t telling them how to cook. With soo many positive reviews I suppose people like it. We however, won’t return. Best of luck to...
Read moreA sad Americanized version of Mexican cuisine. Understandably, you need to adapt the food you sell to the market you’re open in, but of the few times I’ve been to taco temptation I have always found Mexican cuisine simply botched with all of its essence lost in translation. I tried a few of the taco varieties, enchiladas en mole, and the chilaquiles. I can say, the chilaquiles are a great dish. As for the rest, I found an unbelievable lack of flavor. How can you have beef, mole, tortilla, crema, and cheese and only the flavor of the heap of cheese come through in the dish. Each variety of taco I had tried was only saved by a very generous helping of salsa, as any of the actual filling in the taco was completely void of any flavor without it.
I don’t want to be negative and hate on this restaurant. I do believe that there is a lot of potential for growth here, but in my opinion it would have to start with less options and specialization of a few dishes. As I’d stated earlier, the chilaquiles are great. But there is a ton of room for improvement on the plethora of other options you guys have...
