How to describe Penny Lane? I personally absolutely adore this quirky little hidden gem! It's hippy dippy vibe (said lovingly) might not be for everyone, and you have to arrive not expecting your standard restaurant experience. The service is quite casual. You might have to walk up to the bar yourself and get your own drinks for the table, you have to seat yourselves as well....but somehow (and it's a mystery to me) they always notice new people have arrived and eventually take your orders.
I have been here several times over three years. Breakfast twice, lunch once, and tonight was my 4th dinner. You may have to wait a bit longer (remember the tempering expectations?) for your food to come out, but my goodness is it worth the wait! The pesto piano bread is to die for! We also enjoyed the "pastini" tonight which is a giant sized martini glass filled with pasta of your choice, (we chose linguini with alfredo and grilled chicken), it was delicious and could have easily fed 4 adults. They also offer live music many nights, a tiny adorable gelato cart, self-serve soup, and a lovely little self-serve coffee station. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion, and a trip here just to view the intricate, creative, artsy decor is worth it.
Once again Penny Lane did not disappoint, and I will...

The bleu cheese dressing on the burger may have been bad as it tasted like nail polish remover (you know, how tastes and smells are similar). They said they had a new menu but they didn't seem to take the time to learn it. My wife told the waitress she was supposed have chips with her wrap. The waitress said, "I could get you some of you want" like it was a favor for my wife's misunderstanding (the menu clearly stated that chips came with wrap). I know other restaurants get very busy and make an error sometimes but they had only two tables besides us. Overheard someone else ask for the special. They said they were out. It was 5:00 pm. Dinner just started. I'm not sure how they ran out. ...
