Iâve been coming to this place for nearly two decades. It used to be one of my favoritesâgreat breakfasts, consistent food, and friendly service. But over the past several years, itâs been on a steady decline, and my last visit was the final straw.
First, the hours. The restaurant cut back significantly in 2021 and 2022, citing temporary staffing shortages. Yet here we are in 2025, and nothingâs improved. Sundays and Mondays still shut down at 2 PM. For a place that once had broader availability, this shiftâquietly made permanentâfeels like just another sign of how much theyâve let things slide, especially when you realize they still have their COVID plexiglass up in 2025.
Service is another weak point. My server said sheâd bring water and napkins when our food came. The napkins never came, and the water wasnât even cold when it did finally arrive. Itâs frustrating to see such basic hospitality being missed, especially when that used to be a strength here.
They also hide the breakfast menu after breakfast hoursâeven though breakfast is still served all day. Itâs a needless hurdle for customers. Why should anyone have to request a second menu just to see what theyâre allowed to order?
Food quality has dropped too. My usual orderâa sandwich and friesâwasnât awful, but definitely not what it used to be. The fries were undercooked and limp, and the whole plate felt bland and uninspired.
To top it all off, the bill was nearly $40 for two basic meals and a sodaâbefore tip. That might be tolerable if the food and service were great, but they werenât. And with so many better competitors in the area just a five minute drive away offering more for less, I canât justify coming back.
I donât write this lightly. Iâve defended and recommended this place for years, but itâs become clear that what it once wasâand what made it worth supportingâis gone. I've known over the years that my enthusiasm for this place had definitely decreased, but this visit allowed me to fully realize what...

It starts off by us bring seated for quite sometime before we're even asked about drinks now I can let that go ya know sometimes its busy I get it but then our food comes out and my boyfriend mentions that there is literally 2 pieces of THINLY sliced corned beef on his sandwich and the waitresses response was " oh im sorry thats how It comes, actually the owner is the one cooking and portioning the food" I said that's good to know and she just walks away doesn't say anything at all so I start saying she could have atleast been like oh let me go ask for you and then comes outta know where like she was listening and was like I did ask and then walks away still doesn't say ANYTHING about more meat coming out for my boyfriends sandwich well he ends up eating half of it and then she shows up and sets a plate on the table and walks away..... her name was Laura by the way, well so she said she's blonde and tall. I wanted to talk to the owner but the people I was with convinced me otherwise and to just leave a review. I'd leave a picture but it...
Read moreThe Millhouse Restaurant has a very nice homey atmosphere, pleasant staff and very good food. I had heard from family and friends that they liked going there and I now agree.
Note: I am on a gluten free diet as I have Celiac disease and can not eat any wheat, rye or barley. I recently had lunch at the Millhouse and ordered a sandwich on Gluten free bread and my wife ordered the same sandwich on white bread (wheat). Halfway through my sandwich I realized that the bread did not taste like gluten free bread. When I discussed with the waitress that she had switched the orders with my wife and as a result, I will be ill, she blew it off like I was an annoyance to her. Keep in mind that there are other people who could go into shock if that happened to them. Many restaurants take great care to ensure this does not happen to suffers of gluten sensitivities by putting a marker spike in the gluten free meal while others use a special colored plate for gluten free meals. I understand that people make mistakes, but insulting a patron for a server error is unacceptable. I have lowered my 5 star rating because of...
