Rolling Ground Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Clayton

Apparently the Rolling Ground Bar is now under new management/owners and Friday night (9-26-25) we 4 of us) decided to try their Friday Night Fish. When we got there at 7:15 the parking lot was full which looked good but were we wrong. The reason was people were not getting their orders. We ordered shortly after sitting down and after 20/30 minutes we noticed those around us were not getting served. After 45/50 minutes people started leaving. It took us an hour & 40 minutes to get fish specials only to find two tiny PCs of over cooked fish with a bone in some, the Shrimp was far over cooked in old grease and one person found a toothpick piece in her salad bar which was not included with a special. So 4 out of 4 got their food and as they were finishing the waitress (new operator) approach me an ask how my Chicken Special was to which I replied I haven't got mine yet. I ordered the 4pc Chix Spl with Hash browns w/cheese to which I got 4pcs and 1 single hashbrown patty smaller than McDonalds and no cheese. This was probably the worse meal & service I have ever had in my 70 years. These people either have no experience or don't care or both. They obviously knew things were not going well yet offered no compensation, discounts, not even an apology. Overall they get... "0" for Service "0" for Quality "0" for Quantity "0" for Price/Value and a "0" for Atmosphere because of the strong grease oder and for allowing people to vape inside. Not sure a 2nd chance is even warranted so we will not be returning unless Dan & Terry take it over...

My favorite thing about this bar is how well it is cleaned every day. My friend and I enjoyed staying in the bar until 11pm to watch the entire cleaning process. Seriously they could write a book on how to clean a bar after each shift. I was so impressed. Came from out of town and rented the airbnb above the bar for Friday and Saturday night. Airbnb was as advertised. Very good value. Was worried that people partying in the bar would be loud at night but that is not the case. lots of traffic to the bar until about 10pm then everything settles down. Ate at the bar Friday night and the food was very good. very good service at the bar. My only concern for the airbnb was the railing on the patio and the steps is way too flimsy. Highly recommend...

Our meal, the loaded fries tasted like a tin can. Other tables were asked how their meals were it was tables that were ordering alcohol. Seemed like even though we were there before the other tables we were not waited on before them. We used to come to this bar every time we come up for our annual visit Gay's Mills. We specifically go to this bar no longer. Had we known the change from many yrs past then we would have went a completely different way home tried a different place to eat. Very disappointed discouraged will not recommend to family or friends. Tater...
