My experience here was amazing. The food and wine was amazing. The staff taking care of my table was very kind and courteous. First we were brought a little amuse-bouche tray with chocolate covered almonds, a candy mix, and some crackers. We ordered a bottle of Bordeaux and the cheese platter. Both were very delightful. The board consisted of what I believed was Fontina and a Parmesan, along with a blue cheese and some brie, accompanied with grapes, crackers, bread and butter. We both had salads that were light and flavorful. Mine had chickpeas, apple, cheese, onion, greens, tossed in the house dressing. The Hermitage dressing was well balanced. For the entrees we had the quail and the lamb ragout. Both were cooked in a very traditional French manner. No bells and whistles here. Just classic food cooked perfectly. Seasoned appropriately. We took our dessert with us, a chocolate and an apple tart. The apple tart was well balanced and not overly sweet. I tried a bite of the chocolate tart and while delicious, was incredibly rich! I don't know how even two people could eat this. Overall it was such a wonderful dining experience. Definitely worth the trip to check this place...

Wow! This was an awesome slow food experience! Organic food raised with love. I can't even properly put into words the amazing taste of the food. To start, I had a salad that was so fresh and lovely. Honestly, it was so luscious I can't remember the last time i felt this way about lettuce haha. I also had the brisket and it was so tender and flavorful. I would eat here everyday if I could. The service is wonderfully slow and kind. It reminded me of being in Europe. The atmosphere is beautiful, simple, and unpretentious. The grounds are peaceful. You can feel the love and intent in everything they do here. I felt fed physically and spiritually. It's a special kind of place that may not be for those looking for a quick bite, or cheap, low quality food, but if you care about your food, and want to have time to enjoy good company, in a peaceful beautiful spot, I highly recommend this gem. They also sell eggs, including quail eggs, macrons, wine, tea, and jam etc. I found the whole experience very inspiring and nurturing. If this is something you can appreciate, please go and support this...

I found this place on Maps, and really wanted to try their duck, but after reading how long a meal takes, it was just too much time to sacrifice for the amount of adventuring we had in the area. I had a full days itinerary already planned out (which we inevitability overshot, as we always do, lol), and arrived back home far later than anticipated.

The location is beautiful and unique. The food looked and smelled amazing, and I'm positive would be well worth the time and money. The staff are friendly and courteous.

On our next trip to the area, I'll be sure to set aside the extra time to be able to enjoy a meal here. I also plan on telling everyone I know about this unique location. I know at least a few people that would make the long drive from our area to experience this wonderful location.

We did purchase a few items in the shop. Their coffee meringues are delightful!

Definitely a must-visit when in the area! It's a rarity to find an establishment such as this outside of the...

📍Saint Francis Hermitage, located in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, is a serene religious community and culinary destination run by Nuns who live onsite. A central part of the restaurant is their organic farm, which includes an apple orchard and livestock. The nuns are deeply involved in self-sufficiency, growing their own vegetables and raising animals onsite. This farm-to-table philosophy is at the heart of their French restaurant, where the nuns prepare all the meals from scratch, using the fresh produce from their gardens and meat raised on their farm to create authentic, handmade dishes. 👋🏻We’re the @midwestmunchers We’re just over here livin our best Midwesty life with our pups and baby girl in a tiny Wisconsin town.
