Marc Yanni & Co. catered my wedding (offsite) this past fall and it was AMAZING. From the food to the service, I honestly could not have asked for more. What they accomplished was no easy feat – we were at a barn, without a kitchen, on a cold, wet November day. From the very beginning, Marc worked with us to create the exact menu we wanted and even helped us figure out what rentals we would need – doing his best to think of ways to help us save money where we could. When we showed up at the venue, everything was set up exactly how I wanted, his displays were on point and he and his crew were ready for the influx of almost 200 people. One of the best parts – Marc’s staff made sure to always check on my husband and I to see if we needed a drink and even brought us a plate with a sampling of all of our appetizers because they knew how busy we were mingling with our guests. We were also so impressed with how awesome the main course was. It can’t be easy to serve that large amount of people with such limited resources, but the food came out steaming hot and was absolutely delicious (filet mignon, chx francaise, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and my personal favorite – mashed butternut squash). I really can’t say enough about Marc and his staff that night - the food came out quick and more was brought when needed, when our confetti poppers created WAY more confetti than expected they helped move it off the dance floor (by hand – we couldn’t find a broom), the bartenders kept up with the crazy partiers who needed drinks all night, overall it was just perfect. We are so grateful to the Yanni’s team for helping make our wedding the...
Read moreWe heard about this place from several people so we figured let's give it a try for dinner. First off, Saturday evening at 7:15 there was a waiting list to get a table, 30-60 minutes. We didn't care if inside or out. We went to the bar, got some drinks and waited. We noticed more than five tables were empty inside. We watched and waited. Finally 35 min. later we got an inside table. When I asked why the empty tables, they said they go down the wait list before assigning them. I was shocked. During the entire dinner, most of the empty ones were never used. After all that, we tried their famous fried Calamarie. It was fresh but quite oily and with little flavor. We had to salt it multiple times and dip with plenty of tomatoe sauce. The serving was quite large so sharing is recommended. We decided to split a red snapper topped with a crab sauce. It came with rice and several vegetable garnishes. It taste fine but was overcooked and dry. It was a shame as it could have been avoided if it was served faster. The plate was hot and it likely sat in the kitchen under or on heat. Overall, you go for the casual ambiance of a waterfront restaurant. I just felt it was not worth the wait which should never happen when empty tables are available. Finally, our waitress never checked on us or asked if the food was OK. I guess upstate NY service is just less attentive compared to some busier areas. Beautiful view and nice live guitar player helped with the 3 stars. Not sure we would try again unless there was no wait...
Read moreOut of a sense of respect for the many people who seem to like this place, and for the many other diners who were there the night we ate, I added a star to my review that was not really warranted. It takes a lot for me to be so critical, but this place makes it easy. It is the absolutely worst restaurant meal I can remember having. Anywhere! From dirty, plastic-covered menus that are falling apart, to decor that seems to have been retrieved from a flood, my appetite was destroyed even before I ordered. The so called "voted best in the capital region" calamari was crispy, but then the kitchen larded on its special sauce, making the otherwise acceptable, crispy breading a soggy mess. Why? Our dishes were plentiful, in terms of quantity, but presented so unappetzingly they were not worth eating, or taking home. The service was adequate. But there is a big, easy-to-find-a-space parking lot. ActuallyI wish there weren't; I would have saved the $100+ I wasted, most of which was spent on mediocre wine and a house- developed drink that was as awful as the food. It could be so much better with just a little effort, especially as it is the only serious restaurant for miles in any direction. The people who come here regularly...
