An Open Letter to the Fine Dining Community
In the world of instant feedback and the social media form of blitzkrieg, businesses are scrutinized, criticized and ostracized instantly courtesy of cell phones, cameras and recording devices. While quality businesses relish genuine feedback in the never-ending effort to improve, what they should not have to tolerate is the occasional irrational, unhinged and unwarranted flaming rants from a very few malcontents. While no business owner wishes to tamper with the tenderness of a customer, however undeserved, I suffer from no such restriction.
In high quality, well-managed dining establishments like this one, even unwarranted customer complaints are routinely comped or folks are otherwise offered any variety of remedies in the effort to successfully address the issue. As a regular customer, I have seen it in action. Complaints should first be leveled to the server. If this does not suffice, then the manager should be summoned. 99% of all issues can be and are resolved in this way. If you have not availed yourself to these remedies in a calm and respectful manner, then simply resorting to damning social media comments is unfair and irresponsible.
Fine dining establishments rely primarily on their quality, service and reputation. Any assault on these cornerstones of their very being are taken very seriously because if damaged sufficiently, the business will ultimately fail. It should not go as unsaid or unrecognized that in some instances, the customer is simply showing off for a date, demonstrating their power and savoir faire in brow-beating a server or staff member, perhaps inebriated, acting irrationally or maybe, the person making all of the stink is just plain a garden-variety a**hole, heaven knows the world holds no shortage of these people, we all know more than a few and they do on occasion dine out.
So, in closing, as I see some of the unwarranted and unglued comments some of these malcontents have made, I think it only fair to verbalize what most everyone already thinks about that occasional loud-mouth bully, Napoleon-complexed bald guy, suffering from erectile dysfunction and self-loathing, living in his mothers basement, we all understand their frustration, but don't allow their pitiful cries for help be confused with genuine feedback or constructive criticism,...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away. First time here Friday night to celebrate my birthday with my fiance. From the moment we walked through the door, I knew this was gonna be an awesome dinner. We got here about a half hour before our reservation, so we made our way to the bar. The entire restaurant is gorgeous. Really nicely decorated. So we had a drink at the bar and then promptly at 7 our table was ready. We sat down and we were immediately greeted by our server Shea. She was a great waitress. Very personable and attentive. Instead of ordering an app, we got their wood-fired pizza. I'm a huge fan of Barstool Sports and Dave's Pizza Reviews on YouTube, so whenever I can try a new pizza I do. Pizza came out merely minutes after we ordered it (benefits of a wood fired oven lol). We got the classic pizza. Topped with fresh mozzarella, a nice tangy sauce and fresh basil. It was amazing. Solid 8.9 for me. We only had one slice each since we didn't want to spoil our steaks we had on the way. And let me tell you, they did not dissapoint. Our dinners showed up a mere 10 minutes after we had our pizza. You can tell this kitchen staff is on point and communicates well. I got a 14oz NY strip and my lady got a 6oz filet with grilled shrimp. She had polenta on the side and I had loaded bleu cheese fries. Literally everything we ate was dynamite. My fiance gave me a great birthday before we even got here, but this place was the icing on my cake. If you're within I'd say 2 hours of the Binghamton NY area, I highly recommend you come here if you want an absolutely top notch dinner that will in zero way let you down. We'll be back more often for sure. Ok, that was from 2 years ago. Apparently I never hit post. Lol. We were just here again and had the white mushroom pizza, brisket Poutine and pad thai. Absolutely amazing. Moxie is definitely a must visit. Unbelievably good food, great staff and a...
Read moreI was here for the first time for my Birthday, I was there around 5:30 and was almost empty, we had the girl with name Kelly something I don’t remember very well but her service was poor compared to the other waitress that was serving to the tables behind me, I say this because all the menu and the special food for that day I heard from the other waitress that was serving a different table because my waitress just handled the menu and said I will be back when you decide. Long story short because was a lot of things I didn’t like but even water she never refilled for me I had to ask, my glass was empty for over 1 hour. And in the end I saw the other waitress was giving to the other tables cake for their birthday giving a candle making their birthday very nice day, my waitress even that I was maybe the first one arrived in the restaurant, I also told her when she asked me that the reason that I’m here is my birthday she also said happy birthday to me in the beginning but in the end she never offered me that cake like everyone else. and when she said ok I’m going to bring the bill I mentioned to her what about the cake that all this people are having for their birthday how that works? And she acted like ooo yes and ask me do you want that ??? And I saw her and thinking really??? And I didn’t even have a candle or fire like the other people had, she just thru a very small cake in the box. Anyway the food was good but overpriced and I was disappointed how I was served. I chose that place for my special day and paid so much money. Don’t select people please treat them all the same. Picture how the cake look like when she gave it to...
