Bauer's Dam Resort — Restaurant in Town of Conover

I have been visiting Bauer's Dam Resort for the past 35 years, and it has become my family's cherished vacation spot. Donna and Glen, the owners, have created a remarkable place that exudes warmth, hospitality, and a genuine love for what they do. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough!

This is a review for the restaurant.

We (my family and I) come to Bauer's Dam restaurant every summer when we come up to our cabin. It has always been a pleasant experience and we never had any problems.

Sadly, this is the last time we will be coming to Bauer's Dam.

I called the restaurant to order food to pick up. The person who answered the phone said that I could just come to the restaurant and order the food to take home when I got there. I was annoyed because we had a big order and I knew it would take a little bit to make. I got to the restaurant and not a single place to sit, not even at the bar. I put the order in and they said it would be an hour.

This was the most annoying part, there's nowhere to sit down and wait for my order. My mom found a chair at the bar, one single chair and of course she ordered a drink. Which was the restaurant's intention this whole time. When someone is trying to stop drinking and you bring them to a bar to wait an hour for their food chances are they will give in to having a drink. This is why I ordered pick up.

I ordered a burger which comes with a side of french fries. I wanted french fries and they were out of them. I wasn't given an option for the other sides that I can choose from. I was charged for it regardless. I asked for the burger to be well done and the burger was far from well done.

When someone calls for food to be picked up, take their order like EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT and do not haggle them to come in now to order and wait for it there to take home. The point of calling prior is to get the order in so it is almost done or ready when you arrive. When you order food to pick up that usually is because you don't want to go inside only to pick up the food.

Stopped in for a pizza. While waiting my wife and sister sat down on a picnic table outside to wait. (not on the deck but in the yard between the lake and deck.) The lady that owned the place started yelling at my wife and sister to get off and wait in the boat. She followed them to the boat still yelling. She then would not sell us the pizza or the drinks we ordered. It was a real crazy situation. She thought the girls had brought their drinks from the boat to the picnic table. she was awful to them. They were very surprised as they would have followed any direction given by her. What kind of person follows people screaming? Very weird. Be very careful when...
