Silver Leaf Diner — Restaurant in Town of De Kalb

I stopped for lunch just passing through for Business. These hidden gems are the absolute best! Quaint little diner with good atmosphere. I was greeted promptly and told of the specials. They were varied and priced very reasonably. I decided on a rueben with Mac salad. It was brought out quickly by kitchen staff as the lone server was getting busy with newly arriving tables. The sandwich was maybe not the biggest rueben I've ever had, but it was prepared well with tender Corned beef, saurkraut and 1000 island dressing. The bread was very buttery and crisped. Mac salad was a great mix of pasta, fresh veggies, and hard boiled egg. Food was great! Seeing others reviews I figured that I needed to try the pie. I got a slice of coconut cream pie to go. Admittedly I'm not a huge pie guy....I almost look at the crust as a mere conveyance to get the deliciousness in my mouth. However the crust here is the star of the show. Very fast making the meals a lot better and cheaper gen mcdonlds food and it's all home-cooked d does have all the chemicals McDonald puts in their food and a real at McDonald runs u like 15$ and then they have the nerve to ask for donation I refuse to eat there I will only eat at the silver leaf r jerks subs and that's it idk why everyone else doesn't eat at those 2 places with them u get fast food and it's not freezer food it's always homemade and fresh from both of those places the only flaw the silver leaf has is the only gas 1 girl taking care of every table in there idk how she was doing it but she did she took care of every single table in there so the need to higher more waitresses but eating at those 2 places is about 10$ a person were McDonald is 15$ a person so there's no reason at All to eat at both of those places rather...

The Silver Leaf Diner is the place to go if you're looking for the "Ultimate" diner experience for sure! From the time that you enter until the time that you exit, you are treated with kindness and feel at home. I took my dear friend, on her birthday, and what a gift she received! She loves diner cuisine and absolutely fell head over heels for The Silver Leaf. Our waitress never missed a beat with our party of five! The service was fast and served with a smile. The food was out of this world DELICIOUS! I had the fried chicken dinner, which I highly recommend that you order! I can't wait to visit this lovely establishment again and again. Too, homemade pies are phenomenal! I bought a whole blackberry pie. I was in heaven with each bite I took! Five stars just doesn't do The Silver Leaf enough justice. I give this establishment...
