We've been here a few times now but this last time (on my birthday) was our least favorite trip. We had a 645pm Reservation but ran into some construction which delayed us about 20 minutes. We called to let them know but we were quickly notified that staff had no desire to sit around waiting for our family to eat so as long as we agreed to not be there all night, they would still let us come. This was extremely unprofessional and way out of line since their website states the kitchen closes at 830pm but yet we were told staff would like to be done as close to 8pm as possible. We decided to still go since we had someone else meeting us there and the kids were excited. As soon as we got there are were rushed the entire time to the point that my boyfriend finished cooking his food and packed his food to go. Our server sat right next to us glaring the entire time. She even started closing down the grill while we were still cooking our food. My boyfriend walked to the bar and the bartender told him she was trying to close so she could leave and refused to serve him a drink (yet website states bar is open until midnight and it was barely 830pm). We did not feel welcomed and felt we were interrupting the staffs plans to leave. It was extremely uncomfortable and one of the worst birthday dinners I've ever experienced. We probably will not be returning as the $200 we spent could have went to an establishment with staff who actually wanted to serve our family instead of making us feel like a burden the entire time. The waitress even went so far as to bring me the check and ask me to pay before everyone was even done cooking. And yes, we still left a $40 tip even though the waitress...
Read moreWow. We've been to Hookers several time over the years and this was a real disappointing visit. Sunny spring day, everyone was in a good mood except the people working there. I had the bluegill basket, it was ok. She had the walleye basket, it was ok. Our guest each had the "Special" - not only have the sandwiches gotten smaller but the steak was tough and overall poor. We've always enjoyed good "bar" food in the past at Hookers but this food was pretty "run of the mill" out of bag or box offering if you ask me. Moving on to service, or the lack there of...in fairness to our original bartender/server - she was simply overwhelmed when we arrived. Once she did get to us, 10 -15 minutes after we sat down at the bar - she offered to buy our first round and offered happy hour pricing since we arrived prior to 5:00pm. As her shift ended at 5:00-5:30 and the next bartender took over, those offers apparently weren't communicated. Overall, just a poor experience and for over $100, I think there are better choices in the area....
Read moreThe resort has 3 very upscale chalets. Ours had a master bedroom with a whirlpool and a loft with two beds separated by a partition for privacy. We also had a very beautiful kitchen and there were grills and picnic tables outside your door. The air conditioning in the chalet was perfect. You are centrally located between Madison, Wisconsin and the Dells. The resort also has a great bar restaurant with great sandwiches and on Sundays a free bloody Mary with a great breakfast plate. The bar has a unique nautical atmosphere. The bar also has a juke box and a TV to watch Wimbledon on the 4th of July Weekend. ||||This is a very remote and isolated resort so you will sleep well. You are adjacent to the Wisconsin River and just north of Lake Wisconsin. The Lake Wisconsin Resort is just down the road where there are live bands on the waterfront at the adjacent bar. A former resident of Poynette, Wisconsin highly recommended Hooker's Resort to our fishing party and we were very pleased with our visit and his...
