Shelly's — Restaurant in Town of DeRuyter

I was passing through this town for business and saw this Shelly's on the corner. So I stopped in, figuring a diner would be able to accommodate the 35 minutes I had before needing to get back on the road. The sign upon entering said please wait to be seated- no problem. I noticed that there were customers at 3 tables and a guy sitting at the bar- perfect, not busy. But it was 1155pm so I figured the lunch rush would be in soon. After about 5-6minutes of standing next to the sign (I was not greeted but I did get a chance to read every single sign posted and look at all of the decor on the walls), the nice waitress came around and gave me my pick of seats. Needless to say at 12:30 I left with my lunch in a to go box. Didn't have enough time. So this is a quintessential country diner with a bar- nothing fancy, extremely reasonable prices, food to fill your belly, and no one is in a hurry. They host live music, which is awesome, but since I didn't get to experience that, I can't rate it. Me and my coworker stopped for lunch while we were working out of town, and let me just say the food was excellent, made from scratch, and you get a great value for what you pay, I got a dani burger medium rare with potato wedges, and got a side of deep fried mushrooms. The burger was cooked perfectly, the potatoe wedges where huge and crispy, and when I ordered the mushrooms I thought it would only be a few but to my surprise, it's a whole to go sized container stuffed, and they were full of flavor. My co worker got the deluxe burger fries and a side of chicken tenders and the same was to be said about his meal well about his meal, it was perfectly cooked...

Tooling though town after doing a job in the area we were tired and looking for a bite. Because we were not totally familiar with the dining options in town we decided to pull a quick U turn and check out Shelly's. We were NOT disappointed at all! The quiet home town family feel (on a Wednesday night) was perfect after a long day but it was the food that will have us going back. Delicious food at a reasonable price and amazing service! While I might have only ordered a simple chicken sandwich it's probably the best one I have ever had.
