This is a review of our dining experience at Old Drivers. It's been years since I've dined at the inn, and tho I don't recall the ambience or decor , it was a pleasure to walk in out of the cold to a quaint and lovely environment with a roaring fire going and then to be seated next to it. The cuisine however I must say, left much to be desired. There was very little dressing on a salad that virtually didn't exist but for a few strand's of some green that was so stringy and dry that it got caught in my throat. I love duck and ordered the duck confit, which to me translated to duck "confused", a not so savory piece of meat that was buried in a souplike sauce consisting primarily of huge white beans (limas? I'm not sure what, but beans is not what I had ordered.) The steak which my partner had ordered medium rare came almost raw, which made it way too chewy and it was appreciated that they would have graciously taken it back to recook, but at that point we declined the offer. Bottom line is we'd love to go back again, but hope that they get the message and up the cuisine and dining experience - oh, and keep the fire going all the way through instead of letting it die while we would have still been...
Read moreWe spent 3 nights at the inn for a wedding weekend. There is just not enough adjectives to express how great the place is or our experience. We were wedding guests from Florida. None of us have ever stayed in a building constructed in the late 1700's. It was unbelievable. Whom ever was in charge of the remodel did a great job of retaining much of the tradition of the building. The rooms we had we so perfect. The bathrooms have charm with many modern amenities. The rain shower I did not want to get out of. Many very relaxing common rooms on the bottom floor. The breakfast was so delicious. Tea/ coffee and cookies in the afternoon were perfect. If one is looking for a b&b with old charm and so much more, this is the place||We attended a wedding in the Preston barn it was magical. A great venue. The bar service for such a large crown was on pointe. The food was served family style at each table and was phenomenal. The Large dance floor was so much fun and great family...
