We got food poisoning from their stakes on 2/20/25. I ordered Porterhouse with Mushroom sauce, and my friend ordered NY Strip. When I got back home that night, I vomited for hours and had diarrhea. Next day my friend told me that she had experienced exactly the same symptoms. What bothers me is that when my wife contacted the restaurant, they simply denied any possibility of a problem with their food. I am writing this to warn my fellow colleagues at Cornell University and the lovely folks of Ithaca to be careful about the situation, the danger of food poisoning at Antlers, and their irresponsibility. I will certainly follow the issue legally to make sure no one else will experience blood in their vomit and fainting.
Replying to your comment: According to HIPPA law (federal established law in 1996) no health institution is allowed to share any information about the patients with others. The claim you made about getting the food poisoning data from the hospitals is both illegal and wrong. Your argument about how you provide your food/meat is absurd since we had mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce and the cream/milk could be the cause. Besides, you are denying the possibility of any problem with your food, while we informed you of a case. This is the very definition of irresponsibility. My wife talked to you the next morning, you promised to get back to us in a day but you did not. For your information, I had to teach my course at Cornell that morning with that terrible condition. I wrote the review when you did not reach out. In your conversation with my wife the first thing you were investigating was some provable evidence that the food was the problem/cause of our sickness. We explained that two people who ordered stake with the same sauce and mashed potato showed exactly the same symptoms. We did not have the same foods before coming to the restaurant, we do not have an allergy to the mentioned ingredients on the menu, and the food allergy shows symptoms in less than half an hour, not 3 hours. All being said, we contacted the restaurant first, talked to you, shared the concern in private to find the cause of the problem (make sure it is not bacterial) and make sure that no one else will suffer from it. All you did was ignoring the call and people’s health condition or investigating the kitchen, and instead talking to your lawyer to find a way to deny it. The reason we visited the restaurant was to enjoy a meal in a local restaurant and show gratitude to this inviting environment, but protecting local business does not mean silencing any critical voice, especially when people’s health is involved. I took a look at your other comments and responses to customers’ complaints and saw the same aggressive pattern. Do not be a dick, Scot. Be humble and take responsibility. This is not Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, Noone wants to harm your business, people who visited your restaurant that night were architects, pharmacist and engineers. We suffered a lot from the food. The least you could do was to make a phone call and ask how we were doing, apologizing for the inconvenience, and try to find the cause. You are a failure as a business manager, at least try not to be a failure as a...
Read moreI don't know if they got a new chef or a new smoker or what, but we stopped in for their Friday lunch happy hour yesterday and I was seriously impressed by how great everything was! We had stopped coming here like a year ago because their prices were getting kinda ridiculous and the menu was limited outside of expensive specials, but yesterday they had a special lunch menu of different barbecue offerings that were much more affordable, and we were so excited we basically got one of each dish!
Here's the full list of everything we got: -Cornell BBQ Chicken Quarter -Sweet Potato Fries -Fried Green Tomatoes (×2) -Brisket Sliders -Garlic Parm Smoked Wings (1/2 dozen) -Beer Bratwurst -Wobbly Rocks Riesling -Phonograph Semi-Sweet Cider
The wings were some of the juiciest I've ever had, the BBQ chicken was crispy and came with a nice tangy sauce, the sweet potato fries tasted homemade, the brisket sliders were moist and tender (although could've used a bit of sauce or slaw or something), the bratwurst had a good beer flavor + a nice heat/spice to it, and the fried green tomatoes were so good that we got a second order even after devouring everything else! The drinks were really good local brands too, and paired pretty nice with smoked meats!
Even though we absolutely loved the food, I think just as amazing was our incredible server Kaylee, who seemed to be handling orders for practically the entire restaurant solo. She was so nice and attentive, even as she rushed around, and it seemed like everyone showed up at once (and was asking about the happy hour menu) so props to her for keeping cool!!
Hope Antlers keeps doing stuff like this going forward, we were both...
Read moreUpdated Review, February 2025: We had an absolutely amazing experience at Antlers tonight. The service was outstanding, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Below is the original review that I posted last year based on an experience that we had. Scott, the owner was incredibly responsive and really showed how much he cares about his customers. He is passionate about helping his customers have the best dining experience. When we went there tonight, Scott, Lexi, and Dana were wonderful! The food was outstanding, the courses were timed perfectly, and it was really nice getting to spend time in such a great place. Thank you Scott!!
Fellow diners: If you’re looking for a great Ithaca experience, be sure to put Antlers on your must-do list. The owner is dedicated to giving you the best dining experience and so are the Antlers staff. Thank you again!!
Here is my original review from 2024: We had an incredibly rushed experience at Antlers. We came in to have a leisurely meal with appetizers and a main courses. The server brought out our appetizers and five minutes later brought out the main courses. The server explained that the kitchen was moving really fast so the main courses came out faster than expected. So we had to completely rush through the appetizers, not enjoy them, and then try to eat main courses that were already getting cold. In the end we boxed up the main courses and left. We’re really disappointed with our experience. In the end we dropped over $300 to be rushed out in less than an hour. Extremely...
