Went for breakfast before 9 am on a Saturday. Ordered breakfast and coffees from Waitress #1 and I requested a large cup of Dark Roast coffee as I could see into the display case and the different sized mugs. The coffee machines are also visible; medium roast and dark roast. Both had a full urn on the burner and a second full urn on the top warmer. Waitress #2 and #1 made the fancy coffee drink that was also ordered, slowly. Seven or so minutes later, Waitress #2 delivered the fancy coffee; nothing was said about the mug of dark roast. Meanwhile Waitress #1 was eating her breakfast behind the counter and taking orders as people came in. Waitress #3 brought out our breakfasts and we asked about my large dark roast. She returned a few minutes later with dark roast in a small cup. The food was very good; the coffee escapades continued. All four urns of coffee was consumed by initial orders; no one made any more coffee. No one walked around re-filling coffee cups. Eventually an older person came out of the kitchen and started an urn of medium roast, ignoring the empty dark roast urns. The person at the table next to us finished and left. #1 cleared the table and then cleared our table. I asked for more dark roast; #3 eventually brought me a new smaller cup of medium roast. Dark roast still had not been started. Other people ordered and was given large cups of medium roast; the urn was now empty. No one made more. A couple came in and sat at the table next to us. A few minutes later #2 came over and asked if we were ready to order. We said we were waiting for the bill but the people next to us were ready to order. Had they not verbally jumped on that, she would have walked away. #3 brought out our bill after a few minutes. A 10% tip was left; it has been at least a decade since we left a tip that small. #2 ran the cash register and said it was busy. All four coffee urns were still empty and no one was making coffee. This COFFEE house / cafe is aptly named. Next time we will bring a Thermos of...
Read moreWent here on Sunday. Staff warned us there would be 30-35 min wait for food and I appreciate the heads-up. Not sure why such a long wait as all tables weren't full. Son & wife enjoyed coffees, I had iced tea which was average. Glad my reflexes are still good cuz person who delivered tea (wrong the 1st time) couldn't get away fast enough & nearly dumped on table. Out of cinnamon rolls (before noon) so had coffee cake instead, was good but would have preferred roll. Son enjoyed omelet, wife had Sweet Crunch Sandwich which was adequate. I had Rice Bowl; no idea why it is called that as there was maybe a tablespoon of rice in bottom, was mostly cabbage and maybe 1.5 oz pulled pork. Sad when I paid what I did for breakfast and had to go home to get a snack. Rarely saw server (poor guy in table next to me had to go to counter to place his order after a few minutes of trying to flag someone down). I get the feeling they just don't care. These last 2 visits the service really has been lacking and the food has not met expectations. Doubtful there will be another visit which is too bad as we used to enjoy going...
Read moreCute place, have visited twice on reputation. Love the old building. Coffee is great. Service is slow, but friendly. Wanted to love the meal....but inconsistent. I ordered the same meal, forgetting that French toast is barely toasted...and my scrambled eggs were dry and browned. Could not eat them. Hashbrowns are great ..fresh not frozen. ( Yes I told my server about the eggs., not attempt to fix that from her). I let it slide because "I'm picky". I just like my food to be warm at minimum and not over cooked and also cold. 🤷Maybe a different crew in the kitchen. Husband liked his so that's the reason we go. He came from ND twice and wanted to go back. Plan an hour for your brkfst if you get there early. Longer if they are half full. Definitely will order the hashbrowns...
