Recently had my wedding at Five Furlongs and if I were able to give them 10 stars I would. The food first of all was delicious, my family and friends went up for seconds and thirds which isn’t common for a wedding. They offered a wide variety of choices which was great for everyones taste. The steaks and salmon were freshly cooked on a huge bbq right in front of everyone by executive chef Santiago. The staff were friendly and attentive to my guests, and the venue itself was perfect. Quaint, with the beautiful touch of country. There’s a waterfall next to the twinkling lights where you can have your cocktail hour, it’s magical. Sitting area along the back with chairs and sofas gave everyone a relaxing space to enjoy conversations. The new wedding pavilion in its rustic charm has beautiful chandeliers to add that special touch, and the architecture inside the pavilion is something to see. Also provides shelter from the hot sun or if it rains, you’re covered no matter what. There’s a fire pit which adds for the perfect atmosphere. The manager Connie is a pleasure to work with very accommodating, flexible and will help you bring together the perfect wedding day. They went above and beyond to make our wedding dream come true. I would recommend furlongs to anyone looking for a wedding venue, you...
Read moreI was excited to try this new spot in East Durham. The inside gives off classic bar vibes with Tiffany lights and a long wooden bar. Out back there is a beautiful new patio with nice patio furniture where you can sit along the creek with waterfall views.
The food here may be great, but I will never know after waiting for FOUR HOURS and receiving nothing that I ordered. Four of the twelve people in our party received their food after four hours of waiting for a 33% success rate...They were out of multiple items, but it turns out we were given an outdated menu and they did not realize this until an hour after we ordered. Our waitress seemed to have no idea what was going on and after a couple of hours informed us that she neglected to send our order to the kitchen. I would excuse the extreme wait if they were busy or short staffed, but we were one of two groups outside and there was about 8 staff members just standing around the bar.
Also of note - the drink and food prices run higher than average at this establishment...$14 for 8 mozzarella sticks and $7 for a...
Read moreSpent a rainy Saturday afternoon here with my two children & good friend… we couldn’t be more delighted with our experience, from start to finish. Went in soaked to the bone, and were seated promptly at a cute, nook of a table with a warm welcome (then received our cold beers immediately!) Our waitress was friendly & doting, but with all the other helping hands around, we never wanted for anything! We loved the ambiance- the Tiffany lamp shades at the bar, rustic-style chandeliers, gorgeous hardwood floor, live music/dancing, upbeat chatter, and plenty of “craic” while the game was on- as well as the delicious food & drinks done right. The owner, Garrett, was clearly dedicated to making all of his patrons happy… as were the rest of the staff (who seemed more like family.) My kids left with smiles on their faces, as did my friend & I! We seasonally stay nearby, and cannot wait to return. Furlongs will surely be a happy East Durham...
