FYI: This review is coming from a person who hates wasting money on anything that lacks value, especially food. Probably bc of the whole Hippocrates thing.
Waited for a year to get a bite to eat here and regret not coming sooner. This place is cleanly and inviting bc of the service and with the updating they did to the "ambiance."
Long story short, this place is pumping out delicious Dominican and Jamaican staples.
We had the Arroz con gandules, Chicharrón de pollo y tostones, which came with a chimichurri sauce. The Chimichurri Sandwich, with homemade thin cut rosemary fries that reminded me of how my abuelita would make them š„¹. The Mac'n Cheese pie with oxtail sauce is "chef's kiss" š¤š¼. And for me, the star of the meal were the Beef Patties. The HOMEMADE BEEF PATTIES... Which are by far the best Jamaican Beef Patties I've ever had. This from a kid that hung out with Jamaicans that made them fresh and also brought me to their favorite spots to get them. These have a light curry type flavor that's complimented by a warm spice that goes well with the meat sauce and dough... Another šš¤š¼.
The drinks? Well the water tastes great, maybe filtered but gave me spring water vibes. I mention this bc if you have experience around the area, some places give you water that tastes like recycled pool water served from a garden hose.
We tried the Soursop aka Guanabana Colada, the Tamarindo Cola and The Espresso Martini.... All of which were smooth and absolutely delicious. They said the Guanabana y Tamarindo syrups are made in house and they definitely taste like it. Both of which taste fresh with the nuance of homemade product. None of the drinks were overly sweet or tasted of JP-8.
Bottom line This is hands down the #1 slept on restaurant in the area right now. The food and drinks are delicious. So I suggest that anyone that read this whole review go and support this local business bc I'd hate to have to drive over an hour to get good Caribbean food and drinks bc you missed out on the deliciousness of Coco...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAstro welcomed us and made us feel l8ke we were family not patrons. He was polite, pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu.
The food is the best Carribian food in Dutchess County and the portions are more than enough to share and the prices are not draining your pocket. You get more than what you pay for.
The Jerk Dry Rubbed wings were perfectly cooked with an incredible crisp skin and the spice was perfectly balanced served with a delicious creamy homemade bluecheese dipping sauce (not that store bought stuff). The Beef Patty was definitely homemade. A light flaky pastry with a delicious meat filling with a surprisingly pinch of spicy in the back note. The Pernil Empanadas were another must try. Crispy pastry packed full of moist and well seasoned shredded pork.
The main course was Jerk Chicken. Again no disappointment with the seasoning or doneness as it was moist and the jerk sauce was not overpowering. A whole Red Snapper. Very crispy skin and well seasoned with Caribbean spices. Finally, Peril. It made me feel as if I was at a homemade dinner. All dishes came with rice and beans or rice and peas which were cooked to perfection.
We met the owners who also made us feel like we were part of their family and made us feel beyond welcomed.
This is definitely worth going back to try their other dishes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Coco Bella for the first time today, and I tried two dishes. Here is my review:
Staff: They were very warm, kind, welcoming, friendly. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them.
Atmosphere: Clean and nicely decorated. We also enjoy the island music playing in the background.
Food: DOMINICAN OXTAILS, YELLOW RICE, AND SWEET PLANTAINS: DELICIOUS!!! Oxtails were tender and had the perfect amount of flavor. Yellow rice was a great compliment. Plantains were sweet and tender. This dish is very mild. Not spicy at all. Just perfect!!!
JAMAICAN OXTAILS, RICE & PEAS, AND SWEET PLANTAINS: VERY GOOD! Oxtails were tender and had good flavor. Rice & peas was spicy. I was able to eat it but someone who canāt tolerate spice might have difficulty eating it. The Jamaican oxtail was yummy so I will definitely get it again. Next time I will get plain white rice with it. Plantains were sweet and tender.
Overall - I recommend that you try Coco Bella if you haven't already. It's local and we need to support local businesses. The food is delicious. The staff is very friendly. I will...
