Overall, a 5-star. The only not-so-good-not-even-up-to-par item was the Tortellini Bondi Soup. Traditionally, this should have chopped carrots, shallots, ham and escarole. The broth here was clear with approximately 1T of chopped escarole in the bottom of the bowl. Very bland and would not order again. Now for the good parts:

Other than the Tortellini in Brodo Soup, everything was excellent. The soup was disappointing because this soup should be a tortellini with shredded carrots, pork, maybe shallots and defiinitely ham shards. This was a weak sort of tasteless chicken broth with nothing but small tortellini floating around in it, and maybe a tablespoon of chopped escarole in the bottom of the bowl. My shrimp cocktail was awesome--large, cold, very fresh five shrimp in a spicy homemade cocktail sauce atop some lettuce. Yummy! Entrees consisted of Chicken Piccata, which was mine. There was one large, thin piece of chicken breast, covered with capers and a wonderful butter sauce. Totally wonderful. Included was the choice of a few different vegetables--I chose broccoli with oil and garlic -omgosh, such a large portion I shared mine with others at the table and they loved as well. My husband had the steamed, mussels over spaghetti. A big potion, maybe 24 mussels, were much appreciated. My brother-in-law had the Linguini with clam sauce with garlic & mushrooms. It not only looked delicious, he said it was authentic and perfect. Our drinks consisted of (2) Montepulciano red wines and (2) Bourban Manhattans--all good. We were all too happily filled to have dessert. Our total bill was $137.87, including a 20% tip. Brandon, our waiter, was excellent. He appeared when necessary, never neglectful and was very good at remembering our requests, A professional waiter that deserves thanks and respect. Thank you, Brandon. You're a terrific representative of Villa Nigrelli, but also of yourself. Your...
Read moreIt's not a very big restaurant, but it has charm; a very vibrant atmosphere. This is not a likely place to see a restaurant as for location. The fact is that it is full at 4p.m. on cold rainy Saturday, speaks volumes. And now I am going to RAVE about the food. Starting with appetizers- Hot antipasto. You can taste every herb and savor on the signature flavor right into the homemade stuffed clams, stuffed đ, stuffed pepper, eggplant rollatini, and shrimp. I have posted pictures of all. I ordered stuffed mushrooms, and my recommendation- if you don't order these handmade, perfectly cooked, flavorful mushrooms in a wine sauce like I've never tasted in my experience, you will have missed out on thee best sauce ever tasted. I could drink it by the gallon and put it on anything. Yes! That delicious. The main dishes come with salad, which was fresh and equally delicious with their house balsamic dressing. The veal and shrimp marsala was amazing, with the choice of side we went with broccoli garlic and oil. Perfect texture and flavoring, not any heavy taste of oil. The veal and shrimp francese was a little much with the lemon. Desert was delicious, lemon? But show the picture, and they will know. This brings me to what made such an experience with fine food, so đ I have to give our waiter, Andrew, much praise for his recommendations and nature in being attentive in knowing when we needed assistance and checking in to make sure we were satisfied. With that, my review is a finely quality restaurant with food and staffing, making it a place we will sure to go to again. For you viewers, it is a must do to experience...
Read moreWe were driving on the Taconic Parkway heading North and were looking for a place that was right off the road to have dinner. This place is literally that. Itâs as if it has its own exit, itâs practically on the Parkway. This was our second experience here and I have to say itâs surprisingly good. Family owned Italian eatery serving traditional Italian Food, Pastas, Seafood, Meat dishes and fresh made Pizza too. They offer take out, indoor (and weather permitting) outdoor dining. Service was very good and the staff was friendly. As soon as we were seated we were offered drinks, water and fresh bread with olive oil were brought to table. Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Marsala, were on point, not amazing, but really good. Chicken Negrilli was really good too, although they said it was spicy hot, It wasnât. The Chicken Parm hero was served on really good, fresh toasted hero bread with thin breaded cutlets (which I like) but bread to chicken ratio was off, could have had more Chicken. I took the Chicken from one half and put it on the other and it was perfect. Didnât get a chance to sample the Pizza, but will definitely give that a try next time. Desert was offered, but had to get going so we didnât give any of their offerings a try. If youâre on the Taconic, passing through Hopewell Junction, definitely stop in for a nice meal. Place is also a popular spot for locals, so Iâd recommend making a reservation...
