Food was good but not cheap. Cute li'l brunette waited on us - friendly & efficient. Wife & I figured we'd split Mexican pizza, & an order of jumbo wings. Wrong! We barely finished our halves of pizza! Delicious! Had wings next day - some big boys, & good Thai sauce! So food was good, cold beverages, purdee smile - just didn't expect $70 bill for 2 items & 2 drinks each, for local roadside bar. Update - owner was correct - we had 3 tasty beverages each.

Excellent food and portions. I had the dive burger and it was a generously sized burger that felt like over 3/4 lbs of meat. It was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My wife had wings and enjoyed them. We were at the lake visiting family and this place was a great surprise. We will be back next time we are at the lake. Oh and the beer is cheap.

Great American neighborhood pub, on the best kept secret in the Adirondacks, Lake Sacandaga. Food is outstanding - highly recommend the cheesesteak - burger is awesome too - excellent prices for the lake. Cash only so hit the cookie jar on your way out the door and wake up without a ‘’more debt hangover”

I was looking through reviews and saw your responses to one of my friends from our visit to your restaurant. I couldn’t help but notice that your tone came across as unnecessarily rude. People are entitled to share their own experiences. That’s the whole point of reviews. From your replies, it seems like you’re more focused on comparing yourself to other restaurants in town rather than addressing genuine customer concerns. I’d also like to point out, as people who are well-informed about the law, that it is illegal to serve ANYONE under 21 in any state—not just New York. However, no one in our group was underage, and we certainly wouldn’t present a VERTICAL out-of-state ID from someone who had just turned 21 if it wasn’t valid (we were clearly just there on vacation). The claim that the ID “didn’t pass a black light” seems questionable, since many IDs are verified by checking for the official state emblem when light is passed underneath—something that differs from state to state (there was clearly an emblem there just by using your phone flash light). We did not want to argue or start any problems over this matter just out of respect. What made the situation even more concerning was the waitress’s question to my friend: “Does this mean it’s expired?”—despite the ID clearly showing she turned 21 last November and that the ID clearly stated it didn’t expire until 2025. If serving a LEGAL adult a drink was really that complicated for you, it would have been better to simply say so rather than stringing her along after telling her, “Don’t worry, we’re definitely going to serve you.” Taking her ID to the back FIVE separate times, only to end up refusing service, was not only unnecessary but also embarrassing… To make matters worse, the food itself was disappointing. It took an unreasonably long time to arrive—over 20 minutes for simple fried food, which should be quick to prepare. When it finally came, it was greasy, poorly cooked, and overall unappetizing. It was clear the staff’s attention was focused far more on tending to the bar than actually serving the guests seated at tables. By the end of the night, we were treated as though we didn’t belong—being bombarded with sodas in place of drinks we were legally entitled to order, and spoken to in a condescending manner. The entire experience felt dismissive and unwelcoming, and it left us with a very poor impression of your business. Just wanting to bring attention to other people who are also thinking of trying this place out in hopes of a good experience....

New owners so we went with high hopes of finding our new comfy lake spot - Unfortunately; it didn’t work out that way. Pros; view of lake beautiful. fries were good but that’s all as far as food goes. Cons: worst of all was finding lots of MOLD on the Franks Hot Sauce bottle around the cap. Turned it into the lady tending bar who didn’t seem to care, placed it back with other condiments and handed a different bottle. She was too busy chatting up 4 people at bar. Food: terrible…. Philly cheesesteak $17.99 steak was entirely overdone; burnt chopped shoe leather, (So bad that’s why I was going to use hot sauce) i opted for onion rings ($2.00 up charge) instead of fries but server didn’t notice, served fries but no rings. Husband had the Rueben $17.99 -burnt rye loaded with sauerkraut but little corned beef and no Swiss and no pickle. The server did ask how everything was and we told her and showed her but… Also, if you like a draft beer in a nice cold pint you won’t get one...

Haven't been here since it was Captain Carl's. I decided to try it out, and brought some guests by boat that are new to the Lake, what a disappointment. First, it was hotter than hades inside, like Indian sweat hut hot. There is no room in the front of the place to stand. Dead flies in all the windows up front. The place is filthy inside and out. The service was slow and they were out of some staple items. Sat outside to have our drinks and there were a few people that were wasted to the point they shouldn't be served, one which was obnoxiously bothering a female patron. We had one and not one person in our party will be returning, that's for certain. I gave them a 3 for food, simply because there were a few items that looked ok on the menu. I'd be skeptical to eat whatever comes out of that...
