This bar is actively degrading the neighborhood.
At first, we tried to be understanding. Occasionally, bar patrons would park in our yardâannoying, but manageable. However, things quickly escalated since Scallywags became The Shore House. We started regularly finding broken glassâbeer bottles, wine bottles, and cansâscattered throughout our yard and driveway. It became a safety hazard and a constant cleanup task.
When we brought this to the attention of the owner, we were met with defensiveness and denial. He claimed, âThatâs definitely not ours, we donât carry that,â and dismissed our concerns with, âIf you donât like it, donât live next to a bar.â Ironically, the same brand of wine was visibly stocked behind the bar. And despite claiming theyâre too busy to deal with complaints, some staff seem to have time to loiter and smoke in the parking lot for hours.
Our house has been here since 1940âlong before this bar, when our only neighbor was a quiet church. Since confronting the owner, the situation has worsened. Parking in our yard has increased, and weâve heard from customers that the bar tells them to âjust park in the empty lot next doorââwhich is actually our lawn, now torn up from repeated misuse. Itâs not even like parking is scarce, the entire street has open street parking.
When we ask patrons to move their vehicles, weâre threatened with police action for âharassing customers.â A friend of ours was even threatened inside the bar for making a harmless âyour momâ joke. The environment feels cliquish and hostile if youâre not part of their inner circle.
Weâve tried patience, diplomacy, and reason. Thatâs over. If this bar wonât take responsibility, weâll have to protect our property ourselves. If glass shards donât damage patronsâ tires first, a tow truck will...
Read moreThe Shore House in Lake View, NY, is more than just a great place to eatâitâs a window into the areaâs history and culture. The building itself is a charming piece of local architecture, with its vintage design and cozy interior that feels like a step back in time. I couldnât help but appreciate how well theyâve preserved the original features, from the hardwood floors to the classic fixtures.
What really stood out to me was the focus on local ingredients, especially the fresh seafood from Lake Erie. Itâs clear that the chefs are dedicated to traditional cooking methods, which adds an authentic touch to every dish. Eating here isnât just about the food; itâs about connecting with the land and the lake that sustain the community.
The Shore House also plays a big role in the local culture. Itâs a gathering spot where people come together to celebrate, share stories, and keep local traditions alive. I loved how the restaurant hosts events that highlight the areaâs history and bring the community closer together.
Overall, the Shore House offers more than just a mealâit offers a deeper understanding of what makes Lake View special. Itâs a place where history, food, and community come together, making every visit a...
