Traditions Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Town of Farmington

Was told by friends it opened under new ownership about 2 months ago. They said you can only order from the fish menu after 5 on Fridays. Arrived about 5 Friday evening. Four or five people outside at table. 3 couples on various sides of the bar. One bartender two ladies in the kitchen. Told to sit anywhere. Sign on table says, order at bar. No menus on tables. Go to bar. Bartender taking order from couple. Customer slides menus to us. Basically two things to order. Beer batter cod or breaded shrimp. Choice of beer batter frys or potatoe pancake (frozen patty), small container of coleslaw and marble rye w/butter comes with dinner. Bartender takes our order for drinks. Husband orders root beer. Asked if Sprecher or A&W. He says Sprecher. She said out of Sprecher. Ok A&W. She comes back for our dinner order. We sit down at a table with our drinks. It is 5:05. We wait. A few people come in from outside off and on to order more drinks. 5:15, no food. The couple who ordered minutes before us now get their food and another couple seem to have gotten food. Two more couples come in. One to the bar and the other two at a table. 5:30 still no food and no one else at the bar has received food. A guy comes in and orders a drink at the bar. He comes over to our table and tells us we need to order at the bar. We tell him we did. He goes to the kitchen and apparently asks them about our order. He tells us they are working on it now. He is just a customer. At 5:40 the bartender brings our food. You have two items on the menu and two people in the kitchen. I understand you recently opened, but what's going on? It takes 35 minutes to get our food when the place isn't very busy and most of the customers don't have food? The shrimp were those frozen breaded ones that have 4/5th breading and 1/5th shrimp. Fish was ok but too much breading for my liking. Potatoe pancakes were more like chunky hashbrown patties. Frys were very good. Would not return for the Friday fish. May try the burgers sometime as our friends said they go for the burgers. No goodbye, come again, have a nice night from any of the employees that we walked past on our way out. I’ve been here two times. The first time I went it was pretty good. There was a lady working that did a good job. Just left going there my second time and it was horrible. They have 1 guy working (bartending, serving, and grilling). He was so overwhelmed and visibly showed it. The food was absolutely terrible. I got the “box car” and both the brat patty and burger patty were cooked beyond well done. My friends bun was ice cold and harder than a rock. This is a smaller pub and grill. It boasts a variety of drinks and food. The staff is very friendly and, although I have not eaten there yet, I was able to observe and smell the great burgers being served. They had a one man band( that was very good), the night I was there. I will be going back to try the food and will update this review when I do.
