The Big Dipper — Restaurant in Town of Fifield

Just moved up here and decided to give the big Dipper a try... fantastic decision. I think my server's name was Brooke, and she was incredible. She was so kind, and had an extensive knowledge of the menu, which was so helpful when ordering. I got the Big Dipper Cheeseburger, which is a build your own burger, and it was incredible. It was barely smaller than the size of my entire hand! And their fries, which were ordered with the burger for only, like, 11 dollars, should have been advertised as a family platter, not a side. The whole plate was overflowing with fries, and they were just as the waitress had described, shoestring perfection. There was also live music, and the singer was FANTASTIC. She had written many of her own songs, along with covers she played, and had such a beautifully dramatic voice, and her skills in the ukelele are out of this world! I will be...

We were having an enjoyable evening, sitting at the bar having our dinner when this rather large boisterous obnoxious nails on the chalkboard voiced woman came in and sat right next to dad and proceeded to let everyone in the bar know that she arrived. She talked about her miserable day and made sure the entire restaurant heard about it. The owners and the staff were outstanding, very welcoming. Our bartender named Grey was fantastic, he worked his tail off and never lost his good graces. He also makes a great brandy old fashioned. I recommend the cheese curds, enough for six of us. Although the fish fry was a bit overcooked you were served a generous portion of fries. We were going to stay after dinner for more drinks and listen to the live band but unfortunately our loud screeching bar battle axe ruined our visit and we promptly left...

I've been a part of this area for the last 25 years and have seen the old Frontier bar become the new Big Dipper. I haven't been here since it opened until this past 4th of July weekend and of course it was packed. We stopped in to get a beer and pizza to go. It looks and feels like it should: a northwoods bar/restaurant. Brooke was the bartender and you could really tell the entire staff from the bar backs and servers to the cook where working hard. They all did an excellent job. A few beers later we left with would be the best pizza I have had anywhere in WI in a long time! Thick cheese and the toppings were more than ample.
