Wigwam — Restaurant in Town of Forestport

I was riding my motorcycle back to the Red Knights Motorcycle Convention in Syracuse on 8/18/17 after visiting a friend in Old Forge, NY. I stopped in The Wigwam after getting caught in a thunderstorm/down pour for a few miles. I walked in the front door and the barmaid working already had towels waiting for me (I had rain gear on as well) Anyway, a man & woman at the bar bought me a coca- cola and I was appreciative for all the hospitality people showed me. They shared their appetizers with me as well. After about 45 minutes with the rain letting up, I was on my way.

Four of our party were leaf peeping recently around the Old Forge area. This restaurant/bar was recommended to us. We arrived shortly after 11:00am for lunch. The hostess acted as the greeter, waitress, bartender and just about every other position. Our meals consisted of fish fries and chicken wings. The wings came out crispy, tender and flavorful with a choice of sauces. They were meaty and delicious. The fish fry was generous enough where two of us shared. The atmosphere was rustic but pleasant and the bathrooms were extremely clean. I would highly recommend this establishment if you are up in the Old Forge area. Also it is a pleasant ride from the city of Utica....

I love dive bars. From the dankest hole in the wall to the most charming local watering hole. The Wigwam had the best of everything you could hope for. We had like 10 people (young kids, teens and adults) and wanted to get lunch. We walked in and the bartender/waitress/cook accommodated all of us. I would draft her to my fantasy bartender league as a starter. She had another 5 to 10 people to take care of other than us. She got drinks, cooked food and served it all herself. Nobody had to wait for anything. The place was clean, cozy and had a real friendly atmosphere. If I was a local, this would be my spot. If I was just passing thru again this...
