I went there for breakfast for the first time and will never go back. I was prepared to wait, due to the reviews, so I waited patiently, while also waiting for my niece to show up. When the server asked how many, I said that it would be two and I would like a booth. I received a grumpy look and was told it would be a while, because they were busy. One minute later a couple leaves one of the booths and told me it was available, so I went and sat down, which was allowed in many restaurants I’ve been to. You would think I did a terrible misdeed based on the response from two servers. “We don’t like to have customers seat themselves.” with an eye roll. I apologized. My niece arrived. The waitress put the menus on the table after cleaning it and two minutes later, came back to take the order. We weren’t ready and the server left in a huff, came back another two minutes later and when we told her we needed more time, she said, “Just so you know, it could be a while before I come back.” Not long after, we ordered. The food came quick and was slammed on the table. I really don’t get why she would do that. The food tasted fine. I wouldn’t rave about it. It’s a very small place and when at full occupancy, it’s very loud. Server got $1 tip from my niece, which was too much in my estimation. We left the building and the server opened the door and made it a point to yell to us in a spiteful voice, “Thanks for the dollar ladies!” “Thanks for the lousy service!” was our response. I think they have their regulars and apparently, they obey the rules set by a...
Read moreOn a round day trip to pick up an antique bench, we drove from Philadelphia to Vermont and back in one day. Hungry, we stopped at Scrappy's Diner. Not sure what to expect by the exterior but we gave it a try. The inside sort of looks like the outside but enhanced by the friendly, cozy vibe given off by the staff and the costumers. We sat down in a booth and within seconds, a coffee cup appears along with my wife's ice tea with no sweetener or lemon. The menu is everything one would expect form a diner. I ordered the BLT on toasted rye and my wife a basic American omelette (well done) with a side of toasted rye. My BLT was perfect. Lots of CRISPY bacon and lettuce, and real mayonnaise . It could not have been better. The omelette came with roasted potatoes which were lightly seasoned. I like that because it leaves it up to the patron to decide how much salt and pepper to add. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I would love to have tried a few more item on the menu but we needed to get going as I knew we were going to run into bad weather on the return ride to Philadelphia. I give this place a solid "A" and if I am even in the neighborhood again will most...
Read moreI've been to Lake George more times than I can count, but I never ventured out towards Fort Ann until last week. Randomly driving down the road in a torrential downpour, my friends and I passed Scrappy's at about 45 MPH. As we passed, we noticed that the place was absolutely packed for such a small establishment, naturally arousing our curiosity. We turned the truck around, and we did not regret the decision. All around, the place was amazing. Ambiance is exactly what one would expect from a small town diner. The wait staff was excessively nice. 1 thing, DO NOT ASK THEM TO MODIFY THE ORDER. HOW IT IS ON THE MENU IS HOW THEY SERVE IT. No joke lol. The food was great, massive portion for the price, coffee was excellent. Just an awesome spot. Thank you to the 2 waitresses that helped us, one got me in contact with the folks who run the Adirondack Music Festival and the other was...
