What a shame. The coffee, pastries, and comfort are excellent. The employees are also nice. The problem lies with the owner, who not only gives major attitude to her customers, she treats this place like a hobby instead of a business. Open hours, and available services during those hours, change on an almost weekly basis. If you don't check Instagram before going, you may just find they decided to close, or that they changed their hours with very little notice. Recently, they extended their hours for one day during the week (for a limited time), but refused to make coffee for the last four hours. You can pick up bread, that's it, but you're not informed of that until you actually try to order a coffee. I mentioned to the owner that it was tiresome trying to track down their hours every week before coming, and she gave me attitude and tried to lecture me, the customer, about how they "can't work 24 hours a day." That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking for consistent hours and services. Like a coffee shop. She actually left the counter and chased me into the seating area just to keep arguing. I dealt with the poor schedule because I liked other things about the shop, but I won't accept disrespect in response to reasonable feedback. I will not be returning.
Edit for an interesting update: I posted this same review on Facebook, and now the owner is doubling down on her rudeness, calling my accurate, honest review "exaggerated negativity" and shaming anyone who doesn't want to support a "community business." So apparently, she feels entitled to support of her business, regardless of how she treats her customers. Absolutely ridiculous,...
Read moreIt was such a treat to try out this new spot in my community, and from the moment we walked in, it was clear that Gardiner Bakehouse is more than just a bakery—it’s a place that values connection and craftsmanship. They host a lot of workshops, which is such a great way to bring people together, and I loved the thoughtful details throughout the space. The entryway mosaic, in particular, caught my eye—it’s a beautiful touch that shows the level of care they put into their space. We arrived around 1 PM, about an hour before closing, but the staff was incredibly welcoming and never made us feel rushed. In fact, they had samples out, which was such a nice touch! It really made the experience feel warm and inviting. For my meal, I had the carrot ginger soup with a slice of their bread, and it was absolutely divine. The flavors were perfectly balanced—just the right amount of warmth from the ginger and sweetness from the carrot. My only small note is that I would have loved it to be a little hotter, but it was still so good. I also grabbed an oatmeal raisin cookie, and it was perfect—soft, chewy, and full of flavor. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was lovely, and all the workers were kind and friendly. I can definitely see this becoming a favorite spot, and I’ll absolutely be back. The only thing that would make it even better is if they added more seating, but even with that, it was a wonderful experience. Can’t wait to...

From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by the warm scent of fresh sourdough and buttery pastries. The staff is incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. You’re not just buying bread here—you’re getting something thoughtfully crafted, start to finish.
I also love what they stand for. They use locally sourced, organic ingredients and even offer a Breadshare subscription, which is such a cool way to stay connected to the community and support local grain growers.
Be warned—things sell out fast! So get there early if you want first pick (and trust me, you’ll want one of everything).
Bottom line: Gardiner Bakehouse is everything you want in a local bakery—artisan quality, a welcoming atmosphere, and a deep sense of community. Absolutely worth the drive, and 100% five...
