We had an amazing experience at Daniella's Steakhouse last night. We were celebrating our 24th anniversary with dinner and a show, and while the show was incredible, it was dinner we gushed about on our hour and a half drive home. When we arrived, the owner himself held the door for us. I had called ahead to let them know we were running a little late for our reservation due to weather, and he was very kind and understanding on the phone. Our server, Mike, was fabulous. He has the best personality for the hospitality business: friendly, witty, and extremely attentive. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was dark and intimate, much like that of a high-end pub: cozy, but still very classy. The bar was lined with patrons you could tell frequent this establishment. Although we didn't interact with the bartender directly, he clearly had a finesse about him and a pleasantly warm relationship with his regulars. Everyone appeared to be taken care of properly and cordially. The food was beyond compare. We started with the lobster roll appetizer, which could easily be a whole meal if you add a side or salad. It was decadent, served with drawn butter and lemon on a toasted roll, including pieces of claw meat, my favorite. I've never had a lobster roll before, but now it's on my list of favorites. For my entree I ordered the queen cut of prime rib cooked to absolute perfection and served with a side of au jus. Delicious. My husband ordered the filet medallions topped with a huge scallop, two jumbo shrimp, and smothered in a velvety sauce. His steak melted in your mouth. We finished with creme brulee delightfully representing the flavor of a glazed donut. They surprised us at the end of our meal with a mule mug containing a sparkler, which I can only think to describe as a tabletop fountain firework display. So unique. This restaurant deserves all the stars. We generally don't make a habit of driving this far out of our area (Binghamton) for a dining experience, as we have some lovely fine dining restaurants close to home, but this may be our new tradition for special occasions. Thank you Daniella's for making our anniversary celebration more than...
Read moreLet’s get this out of the way first: yes, Daniella’s Steakhouse is attached to a Best Western. But forget everything you think that means. This isn’t roadside dining—it’s a full-on culinary knockout hiding in plain sight.
We kicked off the night with Angels on Horseback - jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, grilled to perfection, amazing sauce for dipping and gone in about 30 seconds. If you’re into starting your meal with something that makes your eyes roll back a little, this is it.
The entrées? Next level. The maple bacon pork was bold, rich, and exactly the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite and say, “Wow.” And the NY Strip? Tender, beautifully seasoned, and cooked precisely to my order—like, “Did they read my mind?” kind of perfect. Prime grade beef across the board.
But here’s what really makes Daniella’s shine: Charlie Roman. If you dine out in Central New York, you’ve probably heard his name, and if you haven’t, you should. Charlie is arguably one of the finest and most experienced restaurateurs in the region. A gentleman, a consummate professional, and a connoisseur of top-tier ingredients, he runs this place with the kind of pride and polish you'd expect from a top Manhattan steakhouse. And somehow, he still finds time to personally greet diners with genuine warmth and charm. And, I will say - this is possibly the best, most extensive, and interesting menu in the entire area.
The kitchen is top-notch, the ingredients are best-in-class, and the wait staff? Smooth, sharp, and easily ready for a high-end dining room in NYC. The steak could have easily been served at Sparks, Benjamins or Lugar's.
Make a reservation, bring your appetite, bring your wallet (remember, you get what you pay for) and prepare to be impressed. Daniella’s isn’t just good for Syracuse—it’s just plain great. Hope you enjoy it as I did - I'll return soon. And, I rarely ever write a review - this meal...
Read moreI heard such great comments about this place so I got a reservation. We were seated at 4:30 at a small table by the door. That didn't bother us because we were ready for a superb meal. Although the ambience is tight and lacking what made it worse were the 6 or so employees huddled behind us at the host desk yaking and laughing. We ordered the shrimp bacon wrapped app and our attentive server Lexi promptly brought our warm bread and our bottle of wine. All delicious. Next we ordered 2 filet mignons one with Bernaise with the chef's special black pepper cheese risotto and seasonal veg. Steaks ordered medium. I also ordered chicken francaise without the sides because it's a favorite. My wife ordered lobster tail with her filet. Our dinners arrived in no time and presented well. Lobster was perfect and that filet medium as ordered. My steak was raw, swimming in Hollandaise not Bernaise. I inquired about the Bernaise and the chef said it's the same as Hollandaise I don't have tarragon. At these prices does he think his clientele lack knowledge and discernable palates?! I didn't want to wait to have the filet recooked to med so I ate the edges. Filets had good flavor but nothing to yum about. Veg was nursing home mush. Risotto was extreme black pepper over kill. The chicken francaise lacked flavor although cooked well. Dessert cake was excellent. In conclusion $250 later I left knowing I won't be recommending this spot as it's too small, impersonal, and not that good as our experience suggests. The best memory will be the awesome server Lexi ... sorry chef you missed the mark in almost every way. Thank goodness today is Saturday and we can venture out for a much better...
