Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Town of Ghent

We drive over from Western Massachusetts because it is the closest in proximity to where we live. Always a pleasant drive over to this New York location. The line is always a decent size for waiting to order wether you venture in or head through the drive thru lane. They keep it moving pretty fast and now you can even place your order ahead for pickup through the DQ app on your smart phone. We decided to try it today to see how it worked out… we got our entire order correctly bagged and all accounted for and the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. All of our sodas were bubbly and tasted proper… which is refreshing for a fast food restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their orders which were all prepared properly and were delicious. After enjoying our lunches we headed back through to get the new Fall collection Blizzards…. Reese Pieces Cookie Dough was amazing, and Reese Peanutbutter cup was also amazing as well. They always flip the Blizzards over before they hand you them and they never slide out of the cups so thick and creamy and chalk full of candies! Horrible experience!!! I tried to use the current deal of buy a 6 piece chicken basket and get a kid's meal free. I had the bar code up on my phone and when I got to the window I held the phone up for the girl to scan the code. She said no she needed to take the phone that she didn't scan phones. I said no and she grabbed my phone right out of my hand and left the window with it. I kept screaming for my phone back. Not body responded. She came back approx. 5 mins later I took my phone from her. She said she needed to get a manager code and needed my phone back. I told her no keep the food and I left. Mr. Stein, the owner, called me several days later and denied everything. Said none of the staff admitted to taking my phone. He was extremely rude and said he was not aware of any deal with the kids meal and would need to check with corporate. He just kept asking what I wanted him to do. He offered me a kids meal. I'm not looking for free food. I want my phone checked out to make sure nothing was done to my phone. He said not happening and hung up. If there were a Blizzard Hall of Fame, the Ghent Dairy Queen crew working at 11:45am on a Thursday would be inducted immediately—possibly with a parade in their honor. I have eaten many Blizzards in my lifetime, but what I received on this fateful Thursday morning transcended the frozen dessert category and entered the realm of culinary legend. The toppings? Not sprinkled, not scattered, but orchestrated—a symphony of mix-ins so generous and so evenly distributed that every bite was a crescendo of flavor. The blending? Impeccable. Michelangelo carved marble, these artisans sculpt Blizzards. Truly, the mixer operator must have been in a state of divine inspiration, guided by forces beyond mortal comprehension. I left not just satisfied, but transformed. My worldview shifted. My faith in humanity restored. If aliens land tomorrow asking for Earth’s greatest achievement, I will humbly present them with this Blizzard and point them directly to the Ghent DQ team.
