New York Pizzeria — Restaurant in Town of Gouverneur

I eat at this place once or twice a month until tonight. Tonight I observed the pizza maker taking the wooden paddle used for taking pizza out of the oven placing it on the floor and spinning it. You can look right into the kitchen and see this going on. I asked him if he was placing the same paddle that he touches the food with onto the floor. He responded yes. I then asked him if he eats off the floor which he responded yes. I asked to speak to the Owner. I man named Nick came out and told me that he would bet that no one would get sick from the paddle touching the floor. I then watched a male employee take the paddle and move a pizza. I asked if he was going to serve that pizza to someone and he told me the oven was 500 degrees and he guarantees that one one would get sick. You decide if you want to eat off these floors, and if the Owner is cavalier about this, what else are we not seeing that is being done and then served. The service was great and I used to eat there all the time. The food used to be great tasting, but now I am not sure what the tastes are...

Ordered online and showed up right around when the pizza was supposed to be ready (about 45 minutes or so). We showed up, and we're told it would be 30 more minutes.

We waited the 30 minutes and got our pizza. The woman didn't say a word or apologize for the rather long wait. I get that they are busy but it was still frustrating.

We ordered garlic knots and a pizza. After getting in the car and on the road we realized the pizza toppings were incorrect. We had a 45 min drive home so didn't bother going back because we didn't want to wait another 45 min for pizza.

The pizza itself was decent and I really liked their marinara sauce that came with the garlic knots. The garlic knots were underwhelming. They were more oily than garlicky.

I paid for an order that one of our vendors placed through NY Pizzeria this morning. We have vendors statewide that place orders at a variety of restaurants and I've dealt with MANY restaurant staff and owners over the course of the last year.

I wanted to leave this review because the staff and owner at THIS restaurant were AMAZING. They went above and beyond to ensure that everything both I and my vendor required to complete the order were in place and the order was completed and ready on time. The people who received the food were beyond pleased and more than happy with the food as well!
