Gator Jon’s BBQ — Restaurant in Town of Grand Island

Looking for great, local BBQ with that slightly smoky flavor, tender juicy meat, and a relaxed backyard feel? Gator Jon's is the place to head on Grand Island. All meat is smoked right on site, so if you choose to eat there, you'll be surrounded by that smoky promise of delicious good. Convenient from the 190, right near the bus stop, and on the same property as Kelley's Country Store, you are missing something if you dont stop here. Jon is a great "face of the enterprise" happy to chat when there isn't a line! We went on a Saturday around 1 pm and things had slowed down a bit, but with plenty of shady and sunny seating, ice cold pop, and pulled pork, brisket and all the sides, we enjoyed sitting and chatting to hear about how Jon decided to start this yummy business. A sandwich or plate comes with two sides, and they've got plenty of options for ice cold pop from the yeti cooler. They close at 2pm or when they run out. Great BBQ to find in Grand Island, right next to Kelly's Country Store. Their beans had bits of brisket and pulled pork that gave off some spice which matched the beans perfectly. I had the pulled pork which was great with the sauce and the coleslaw that was refreshing and slightly sweet. Definitely a good place to check out for some BBQ. Holy Smokes! Best smoked BBQ hubby and I have had since hubby hasn't been able to do himself (sadly been awile). You can absolutely taste the beautiful woody flavor and low and slow love in the brisket, burnt pork ends and even the beans and mac and cheese. Potato Salad is solid as well.
