Unfortunately our experience wasn't at all like some of the great reviews. Went there for our 1st time. Walked in and the place was empty of customers. They said to sit where you want. Almost every booth was heavily torn and tables were dirty. We found a spot and were brought menus. Plenty to choose from but, none of it tells you a description of what the odd customized names are. You can order breakfast all day but not eggs, waffles or pancakes cuz they are using the grill for dinner items. That was fine with us. I got a burger that was supposed to come w chips and it didn't. So when we asked I got a small bag of UTZ Plain chips like you would put in a kids lunch box. But let me back up. The flies in this place were so bad that we almost left before the food arrived. Seriously almost walked out. But other people had come in for dinner by this time and I didn't want to make a scene. Ok so, the burger I had I couldn't eat. The meat had gone bad. But, I said nothing. The person I was with got the thinnest slice of meatloaf I had ever seen and by looking at it you could tell it was not fresh. At least a couple days old. Nothing had any flavor. Condiments and such were clovervalley brand which is generic dollar general brand. I saw the lady in the kitchen with a bag of buns. Also clovervalley. I'm sorry whoever wrote the review about great buns. But come on. Yuck. Ok I get that this is a roadside diner and not a 5 star restaurant run by a celebrity chef. But a surprise visit from the health inspector would shut the place down. The grime in the kitchen area was unlike anything I have ever seen. And as someone that has worked in the restaurant industry, I have seen alot. I was so looking forward to this cute lil diner in the middle of nowhere. So sad to be disappointed. Except for the friendly waiter we had. He did a great job for what he had to work with. Waiter dude, advice for you. Bail. You are worthy of a much better work...
Read moreWent in, wanting to experience something new. Big mistake!!! The waiter was the only bright point to the place, if it wouldn't have been for him they would have gotten 0 stars. I took my wife there for a close place to go for hopefully a homestyle dinner. We got seated and immediately were attacked by bothersome, pesky flies. The waiter was on his toes, not with the flies but, with the menus and taking our drink order. He proceeded to inform us of the things they weren't preparing for the evening, good job!!! He was very quick and friendly, like I stated earlier, the only bright spot of the dinner. We looked at the menus and tried to decipher what was what. Things on the menu like eastern, western, big rig, cab over, michigan...no explanation whatsoever what these were, the waiter to the rescue, and he was willing to explain these to us. My wife decided on the big rig, which turned out to be a double bacon cheeseburger with potato chips and pickles on the side. I ordered the meatloaf with french fries and cottage cheese and bread. As we waited we had time to look around the place in pretty good detail, and was honestly considering walking out because what we saw was enough to turn your stomach. The kitchen area was filthy, the ceiling tiles were out of the late 1980's and stained, the flies were not giving us a moment of peace. The overhead on the grill was filthy, as well as the walls being greasy. We were kind enough to wait for the food. When it arrived it did not look appetizing at all. My french fries were way too overcooked, the meatloaf was moist and probably yesterday's or older special. My wife's burger looked horrendous, her pickles were the bread and butter pickles, not made for a burger, and the cook forgot her potato chips. We braved it out and tasted the food. It tasted like it looked. Not a good experience, I don't know how they got 4.3 stars because honestly, we both feel they should...
Read moreWe stopped here for a quick lunch on our way home to VT. What a mistake that was. The place is rundown, not very welcoming and the service was so slow we almost left while waiting for the food. It was not busy maybe 2 -3 other couples in the place. The server seemed nice enough but could barely understand her as she mumbles. The menu has no explanation as to what things are. I ordered a BLT and while the sandwich was good the side of fries I got were terrible. No seasoning, overcooked and so greasy. My wife ordered a chicken Patty sandwich although the chicken tasted good. If she didn’t ask for onions (which you have to pay 50 cents for ) it would have been just chicken and a bun. The amount of onions they did put on the sandwich was a lot but No lettuce and it does not state on the menu that you need to ask for it. Maybe our mistake. The wait for these two things was close to a half hour-45 mins I would say. This place could be very welcoming if they cleaned it up a bit and maybe work on the serving time. I would have understood if the place was packed...
