Awful service, mediocre food, and it was super expensive. When I arrived 10 minutes early, several people were looking at a trailer for sale on the property. I asked the owner if I could look inside trailer as I was in the market for one. I was told someone was going to buy it and the future owners would not want me inside of it. So we sat down and the same lady asked if we were just there for drinks (at 12pm). We wanted food, and we were presented with 2 options: both were a choice of overcooked spaghetti noodles. The other customers that came in received salutations and choices other than spaghetti. We asked if we could simply share a plate and the owner refused stating that she wouldn't make any money, which didn't make sense because she was perfectly fine with us only having drinks at first. To summarize, I'm pretty much used to being treated with ZERO respect as a dark skinned Native person in northern Wisconsin; it was the $40 for lunch for two that caught...
Read moreWe live close to Church Street Social and have gotten to know Darcy, the owner very well. We moved here two years ago and from day one she has welcomed us as though we have been long time best friends, which is exactly how I have seen her treat everyone who comes to her bar and restaurant. She has a unique, limited homemade menu where every item is a specialty item, crafted with great care. That alone is what makes this place outstanding! The drinks are as terrific as her food and the prices extremely reasonable considering the quality and quantity provided. I think the meals she provides would cost 2x more at any other nice restaurant in this area. The ambiance is cozy, welcoming, and you feel you have been transported to a different better time. It’s a place where people may not know your name the first visit , but they know your name on the second visit.
Darcy and the Church Street Social provide our community a tremendous and unique dining...
Read moreWhat do I say about this unique dining establishment? When I walked in, it felt I was crashing someone’s house for dinner. A small, intimate setting that is reminiscent of a living room with an attached kitchen. Each night’s menu is a limited selection of two or three items. And the proprietor? Well, let me tell you something about this woman. She reminds me of one of my grade school teachers with her cantankerous demeanor. But you know what? I plan on coming back because she and the environment grow on you. One more thing: CASH ONLY but there is an ATM machine in...
