Fall's Diner — Restaurant in Town of Hoosick

We stopped here during a Sunday drive for breakfast. There is no hostess so you seat yourself. We got pretty quick service for a Sunday morning. Our waitress wasn’t very personable in suggesting items for newcomers so we were in our own for choosing. My fiancé went with the strawberry cheesecake stuffed French toast. He was bummed when it came out because the flavor was almost plastic tasting. I tried and it was horrible. We ended up leaving it almost untouched. The loaded home fries were interesting. They had a nacho cheese sauce on them with bacon and other toppings. Something we ate but probably wouldn’t get again. My eggs and sausage were very good. However my French toast also were thin and had an odd taste to them almost like plastic. I would come back for breakfast if I am sticking to the basic food groups. Waitresses asked how we were doing when my mouth was full. I started to say “ok but… “ she had already walked away. Tuna was all water no flavor. The bread was soggy on part of the bottom of sandwich. Then I noticed the booth where we were sitting had a good amount of someone’s hair on it (not ours). There was only one other table in the restaurant but, didn’t see the waitress again until she figured we were done. I mentioned the hair she says ‘sorry” (clearly didn’t care) but, didn’t make any effort to wipe it up. Very good for breakfast and good for lunch. Big portions, very friendly staff. Great desserts - when they have them. Try the apple cobbler. Six months later, we still really like this place and its staff a lot. The breakfasts are great and have large portions. The girls have grown to know us and our likes, and we are often greeted with our required cup of coffee, which is nice. My only two criticisms are in spite of the apple cobbler being world-class, it is rarely available, and over time, their selection of jams has dwindled to the choice of Grape and Marmalade, which no one I know, especially in my family, likes.
