Rusty Hook Saloon and Smokehouse — Restaurant in Town of Hunter

Super bad service. Would not go back or recommend. I went there with friends and got the bar B Q burger, it said it had cheddar cheese, carmalized onions, bacon, and was smothered in spicy barbecue sauce... well it came out with no BBQ sauce. So I told the waitress and she said yeah because people complained about the BBQ sauce being on the burger... I’m confused how a menus can say you’ll get one thing, but because people “complained” that a burger came the way it said, that they would take it off. She instead brought a caddy of cold BBQ sauce I could put myself on the burger. If I’d have known that my burger would just be onions, bacon, and cheese I would have gotten something else. Very disappointing. I did not touch my burger and the waitress did not offer any help or to ask the kitchen to just simply put BBQ sauce on it and warm up the burger so it’d be what the menus quoted... hopefully you guys can get it together and offer better service or change the menues so people aren’t expecting the burgers to come with what they say... like, if you got a BLT but the bacon didn’t come on it, and instead it was brought out minutes after on a plate for you to make...

It's clean and friendly. You can either eat at the bar or be seated in the dining. If you are from the South or know what really good BBQ tastes like, you will find most items on the menu rather bland and will have to use BBQ sauce to give it a kick. It's not terrible....but it's not really good BBQ either...there is virtually no smoke flavor either...they rely on the bland rub and selection of BBQ sauce for flavor. Generally speaking, it is also a bit overpriced for what you get. Beans are decent. A pulled pork sandwich with chips is somewhere around $16. That's nuts. The cute fishing lure name of meals doesn't make it any better. Confusing, actually. I had a rack of ribs and a draft beer. With tip it was $50. It is about the only BBQ place in the area, so I'm sure many who don't know what really good Southern BBQ tastes like think it's fabulous. Drinks are ok.....a bit strong.....some bartenders really don't know how to make a good old fashioned or Manhattan. Some do though, so it just depends on who the server is. ...

We arrived on a Saturday night in July at 8:15 pm to have dinner. Google States they are open until midnight and their Facebook page States they serve food on Saturday nights until 9pm. The place was pretty much empty. We took a seat at the bar and none of the 4 employees in the bar area acknowledged us, after a few minutes a different employee came out and asked for our drink order. When we asked to place an order for food we were then informed that they only serve till about 8:00 pm on a Saturday night and all they could make at this time was pizza. We then canceled our drink orders and went elsewhere since we came to have sandwiches. If this is the case, It would be nice if the owners would update hours of...
