Top 1 China Express 729 — Restaurant in Town of Islip

The first few times we liked it so we went back but we’ll be finding a new place next time. I ordered shrimp “chow mein” but apparently THEIR “chow mein” isn’t what NORMAL “chow mein” is. What I received was boiled shrimp with cabbage. That’s it. No other vegetables, no sauce AND MOST IMPORTANTLY NO NOODLES. A quick google search will confirm what “chow mein” is and when I brought my food back to show the woman she said and I quote “ohh that’s how they make it in Queens we make it different”. If by different you mean completely different not even remotely close to what it really is then you should change the name because steamed cabbage mush and savory saucey thin noodles with vegetables and meat ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. Now to be completely honest I wasn’t even going to write this review so I’ll now explain why I did. I drove back, ordered something else (that I didn’t want) and asked for PORK FRIED RICE. I drove home, hungrier than before, to find that my “pork fried rice” had NO PORK IN IT! It actually had nothing in it… no egg, no veg literally nothing but yellow un-fried rice. Seriously?! I returned the wrong food to get now more wrong food? When I told my husband about the rice he then told me that his “pork fried rice” also HAD NO PORK! I called back and the woman told me next time she would credit me but nah I’m sorry we’re not gonna be doing this song and dance another time. While working in the area recently, I decided to try China Express for the first time since I'm an avid Chinese tester. Aside from the shrimp in garlic sauce lunch combo I had customized with veggies, the dish itself was nice and hot, the sauce was superb and very tasty, and the combo was made exactly to order. Their wonton soup is also worth mentioning, as the wontons are much smaller and softer than you typical place, much better. The woman behind the counter was so pleasant and just after hearing my voice for the first time she knew which order was mine, extremely friendly! Wish this was closer to my house, I'd order all the time - especially with the under $10 lunch...

I just picked up from here. I ordered a few things. Orange chicken, chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, rib tips, boneless bbq spare ribs and vegetable lo mein. All of it was incredibly HORRIBLE! I literally had to come home and re cook all my pork. It was all undercooked raw and fatty. I’m disgusted. The orange chicken tastes like they haven’t changed the oil in forever.
