Blue Eagle Tavern — Restaurant in Town of Italy

One of our most pleasant surprises since I retired! Years ago we went to the Blue Eagle for lunch after a morning of hunting with my dad. Just a local gathering place with normal bar food. Have not been in the place in years. Was driving by on our way to the lake and saw a man outside so stopped to check on the status of the place. Man was the new owner who grew up at Ma Dugas’s bar on keuka lake back in the 70s. If you are a local you know about Ma Dugas’s place. Well we decided to go there for dinner last week and what a great place! They had made an addition and now have a full menu with great cooks and staff. Instant first class service, fair prices (some of the best in the area), attentive waitress who was as sharp as a tack, the owner stopped by to check on us without hovering around. We are going again this week with three relatives to check out some more of their menu. We walked in and I knew right away we'd have to leave as soon as possible. The music was deafening and it seemed everywhere there were speakers blaring. I finally asked our waitress if they could turn it down and she pleasantly agreed to do so. Thank goodness! She was very personable. My husband's dinner was very appetizing....perfectly cooked veggies were bright and colorful, mashed potatoes were lumpy, the way he likes them, and chicken was tender, juicy and deliciously seasoned. My club sandwich was piled high with ham and turkey and two different cheeses. I couldn't get my mouth around it. Our waitress talked us into dessert...key lime pie... which spoiled the whole experience. Eight dollars for one of those little foil crusts with more whipped cream than filling was not my idea of pie. And the price really stung! So while the food and service would make you want to go back, the ambiance forces you...

Dinner at the Eagle was great again! My fried Mahi was cooked perfectly! Service was awesome! Great place close to our cabin How lucky are we? Update: May 18. All our dinners were just amazing! Great menu awesome service! This place ROCKS! Update July 19th. All you can eat Fish Fry was outstanding! Crispy outside hot and delicious inside! Great dinners and drinks! George and Company doing a great job and keeping it fresh! Update Saturday May 3rd. Burgers and Chicken for the family, BlueEagleritas..and I had the Steak and Lobster special! SOOOOO good! George keeps the place hopping with new items and great service!! Welcome back!!! Update: August 23rd. Tried the Wicked tuna tonite with cucumber wasabi. Outstanding!! Family had burgers, seafood platter and taco salad. Wanted wings too couldn't decide so we got those as an app!! Great every single time! Great job...
