We walked in the door and waited for the "hostess/owner" to get off her phone and seat us. Took 10 minutes for the waitress to come take our drink order. By then we were also ready to order our food. The waitress took our order right away and then said she'd be back with our drinks (2 sodas) and bring out our sides. We waited another 15 minutes for that. Then 5 minutes later our food came. Didn't have time to finish the sides first. My husband and I both ordered the perch. It was barely warmer than room temperature. The waitress never came back once to ask how anything was. I had run out of tartar sauce, which we had to share from a plastic ketchup bottle, and my husband ran out of soda to drink. When the waitress finally did come over to our table, I asked her for more tartar sauce. She said she'd go fill up the bottle and come right back. Instead she went to take care of some other people who were leaving. I got up and got another bottle myself from a table that was empty only a foot away. The waitress could've turned around and grabbed the bottle in the first place. When she finally did come back with the bottle (another 10 minutes later), I was finished eating. We weren't informed that what we ordered was not an "all u can eat" fish fry, and we weren't offered any dessert. By this time my husband and I both were mad and had to restrain ourselves as not to cause a scene. I got up from the table, put my coat on, and walked over to the "hostess" to ask her to fetch our waitress to get our bill. As my husband was paying our bill, I explained to the owner what had happened. All we got was an "I'm sorry" and she was shocked to hear that about her best server. If Nicki is her best server, I don't think we'll be making another visit. By the way my husband had gotten a bone from the fish stuck in his gums, and was bleeding until we got home to get it out. $14.95 for 3 small pcs. of fish, a potato, tiny bowls of coleslaw and potato salad, and some rye bread. Little too expensive for what you would get anywhere else. This was my first and last time here. My husband warned me about it and tried it anyway, hoping after 20years that it'd changed. Apparently it got worse and more expensive. This is the first time I have ever gotten up from the table before we received the bill. I don't normally like giving negative reviews, but this one earned it, and well deserved it. The details were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATED REVIEW, 9/8/2022: My wife and I ate here about three years ago and found the food to be less than desirable⦠see original review below. Anyhow, a few weeks ago we decided to try them out again. We spent almost an hour at the bar waiting for a table and I was getting a really good feeling that this visit was going to be better than the previous visit 3 years ago. The bartender was amazing, friendly and made some awesome drinks! The blue cheese olives are to die for! I bought a jar to take home and I really need to go back again to buy more olives! And if I wasnāt already happily married, I wouldāve ask the bartender to be my wife⦠LOL. However, I think I will just sit at the bar and have a couple drinks next time (with my wife of course⦠I donāt want to get into troubleā¦LOL). But I will go eat somewhere else. Again⦠the food was just not that good. My wife had a rib eye steak and she said it just didnāt taste right, and I completely understand considering I ordered the prime rib and it was just awful! Somebody really got carried away with the thyme⦠and yes, I did ask for rare, but the prime rib came out almost raw! Seriously, I have never complained about beef being āundercookedā ⦠LOL. And both my wife and I were sick with diarrhea about half way through the night after eating here⦠Iām going to make an assumption here and call it a sanitary issue??? But anyway⦠the bartender (my future wife should the love of my life ever leave me⦠LOL), I canāt remember her name, she was an amazing bartender and those hand stuffed blue cheese olives they make are also amazing! Iāll leave the review as 2 stars just because of the bartender and the olives⦠both were amazing. However, Iām just not going to eat their again.
Original 2 star review from about three years ago: Steaks were horrible, they tasted as if they had been frozen, thawed and then re-frozen again prior to thawing them to be cooked. Irish potatoes were delicious! Salad bar was decent. Service was inattentive. But the fish and chicken looked good at the table next to us... and damn the potatoes really were good! ... so Iāll give 2 stars... but please trust me, donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are avid āSupper Clubā diners. We looked through our supper club book for some place newā¦. WOW our choice of Donnyās Girl II Supper Club was a FANTASTIC choice! We arrived early Sunday to have a drink in the bar - we were greeted like family when we walked in (little did we know it was Fred, The Chef and Jen The Manager/Bartender!!
We had great conversation with Jen at the bar regarding the restaurant and its history along with travel and the area. She thoughtfully brought us to our table for dinner and introduced us to our server, Kim.
Again, had wonderful service and conversation with Kim. She was attentive, friendly and just all around a great server. After we raved about the fresh and wonderful salad bar, the amazing meal (I had the 16oz Prime Rib special and my husband had the Duck)
The food was so flavorful, hot and there was A LOT of it. Your dinner includes soup, salad bar, bread and your meal with veggie and a potato choice! It was more food than we could eat but happily brought home leftovers! My husband loved the pea soup so much he brought more home!
Kim let Chef Fred know how much we were enjoying our meal that he came out to say hello and we were able to tell him personally how much we enjoyed the food and service.
The ambiance is quaint and an āold schoolā Wisconsin bar/Supper Club - just how we like it!
We can will be back to enjoy another meal soon. We are thankful for the hard work, dedication and friendliness of this great...
