Bottom line if u dont want to read all: Hidden fees and uncaring staff and owner, something any customer would not appreciate or would go back to. My parents live in sturgeon bay and took 10 of us in our family there tonight (i grew up going to our weekend house in sturgeon since ive been born, im 50 yrs old now, i currently live in mke area and my parents have been permanently in door cty since retirement 10 years ago, we come to visit monthly). I mention this because looking at other reviews, the owner seems to have a huge problem with Out of town people??!! …..Our bill was $300 and we over looked all the nickle and dime fees of addl. mini ranch cups, 3 enchilada addl fee for ordering 2 cheese and 1 beef, addl fee for ordering coke (came in a can!), $2 baby size plastic container of guac, and there were more, all added up to over $20. That being said, We still gladly paid & said nothing UNTIL we eventually saw the hidden fee of the substantial hidden cc processing fee - AND we paid 1/3 of our bill with cash!!! We addressed this to our waiter and he said he cannot do anything about it (with an uncaring attitude) We then asked for owner and owner sent a random woman out who didnt introduce herself as to who she was to us & further made us state our entire complaint once again regarding cc fee. She stated that they pay “billions” a year on cc fees and EVERY business in door cty charges a cc fee also and theres nothing they will change on our bill. The owner finally came out, and mind you, there was a solid 20 minutes of our time wasted at this point, with no actions of care or concern, even though we already paid a $300 bill. Owner with no regards, came out like a robot, stated that this must not be a place for us and we shouldn’t come back…..one last tacky thing - our hot rum drinks were served to us in an ugly cheap unattractive disposable styrofoam cup like something you would get from...
Read moreMy husband and I visited here tonight expecting a great experience as it came recommended to us. It was very busy when we arrived around 7. We were seated pretty quickly, but waited quite awhile before getting any service. Even the host came over and asked if we had been greeted yet. My husband ordered the Macho Chimi. The server asked if he wanted to add queso on top and he said no. When he received his meal however, it was covered with cheese. He mentioned to the server that he had declined the cheese topping. She nicely asked if he would like it remade. He said he would just eat it as long as he wasn't charged the $2.50 extra because they would just throw it away and then it would take another 15-20 minutes for a new one. The server said she understood and said she would make sure the price for the cheese topping would be taken off. A little while later, our server came and informed us that the owner said if he decided to eat it with the cheese he would be charged, otherwise he could have it remade. So essentially the owner would expect us to pay for a mistake that HIS kitchen made unless my husband wasted a perfectly good Chimi and then waited for a new one to be made. By that time I would have just about been done with my meal. How does this ensure that we have a great experience and want to come back again? Not to mention he had our server that was new to deliver the news intead of coming and talking with us. This ended up us questioning why would we go back where us as guests get penalized for their mistake. We will not recommend this...
Read moreI recently visited Island Fever Rum Bar & Grill, and while I had high hopes for the experience, it felt quite mixed overall. First off, the atmosphere is definitely a standout feature. It’s fun, warm, and inviting, which instantly puts you in a relaxed mood as soon as you walk through the door. The decor and vibe of the place really do capture that island feel, making it a nice spot to unwind with friends or family.
I sipped on a refreshing cocktail, which was quite enjoyable. They really know how to craft a drink that complements the laid-back environment. My mom ordered a hamburger and fries, and unfortunately, this is where we hit a snag. The food just did not live up to our expectations; it was far from great. The hamburger was bland, and the fries lacked the crispiness we were hoping for. After hearing so much about the menu, I was truly disappointed, as I was really hoping for something delicious and memorable.
Despite the letdown with the food, I did get the feeling that Island Fever could still be a place I would want to return to, especially just for drinks. It has a vibe that makes you want to hang out, and perhaps try something different off the menu next time. Overall, while the atmosphere and drinks are worth the visit, the food needs significant improvement to turn this into a must-try destination. I would likely come back, but only for another round of...
