A group of us (5) ate at this establishment on Sunday at lunchtime. Let me start with the appetizers. Garlic bread with Mozzarella - Awful - There were spices in there that was much more that garlic and it was not even fresh garlic. Calamari was chewy and not worth them money . We ordered the following... Chicken marsala which was borderline edible. Meat was soft but definitely too much broth, Ravioli with tomato sauce. The sauce was very watery - resembling a can of tomato puree that was not cooked down enough. Three of us ordered the lunch specials - one was veal with asparagus and artichokes, another was a chicken and prosciutto dish and the third was a shrimp tortellini dish. The three specials were absolutely disgusting! My veal had canned mushy artichokes and mushy asparagus in a dish of broth that boiled my veal! it was not edible. My son had the shrimp tortellini and that was in a bowl of liquid that looked and tasted like curdled milk that was reheated and there was oil floating throughout. My other son had chicken that was rubbery and ham not prosciutto with mozzarella and it tasted sour. When we spoke to the waitress she said that the chef was out sick and there was no one supervising the cooks. Really? If they can't cook then they should not be there. I was totally appalled and will never eat there again. Needless to say we left without lunch and I would say that this establishment should only...
Read moreIn a sea of pizza places, this our local favorite. We pick up a pie and a side almost every week, and sometimes dine in with friends. This is a family run business, with the owner and his daughters all working every week. Everyone is friendly and familial - most customers have been coming here for years. The food is reliable and hearty. The decor is nothing to write home about, but that is made up for by the friendly service and good food. It's noteworthy that they are open 7 days a week (many places around here are not open on Mondays or close very early on Sundays) with fairly late hours, which is great for those days that everything runs late. The kitchen is always open to requests and changes, which is also nice when bringing new people who have specific preferences or needs. Parking is easy and plentiful. There are a few tables outside, providing a breather and a quieter experience when the...
Read moreBeen here twice. First time, a while back, maybe a little less than a year ago, great food- shrimp scampi pizza was knock it out of the park good. Server was young but OK. Had to get going, went to the counter to find our server and saw a bunch of people doing shots with one of the cooks! Yeah, not cool.
Gave them another chance, did take out. Meat pizza was loaded with all of.the meats! It was full, tasty, marinara was good, crust had flavor. The Wings were $$$ and not good at all. Small, hardly any meat, Breaded- who breads Buffalo wings? Whatever breading they used made the wing sauce gloppy and pasty. Unpleasantness....
We like to patronize local, family owned spots but can't afford to waste money on inconsistent food and service. That's why we left our last local spot after decades.
I really wish I could give Gappy's an...
