Shamrock Pub N' Eatery — Restaurant in Town of Lake Tomahawk

Wont go back. We have been here several times and although busy it was always good. We were there on Saturday (Oct 19th) and there were 7 of us. The bar was full, the dining room almost empty ( two people that left soon after we arrived) An older lady was the hostess and waitress, she was very nice but seemed overwhelmed and extremely slow. We all ordered easy stuff, burgers and such, the food was just ok, it didn't come to the table together so some of us were done eating by the time others got their food. One of us ordered a burger well done and it was rare in the middle, it was ordered with chips and we laughed as we counted the 7 chips on the plate. The thing that bothered me the most was the steady stream of people from the bar that just walked into the kitchen, beer in hand, apparently to chat with the chef. Who does that and why is...

So food was just ok, we were excited about the unique options offered but once we received the food we were underwhelmed...just meh. The reason for the one star is that this restaurant is doing something pretty shady to add to their bottom line. They basically sneak in an added “credit surcharge” if you don’t pay cash. And it’s 3.5% of your bill!! That’s way more than a standard MS or VISA transaction fee charged to a biz. Never once did they let us know that this charge would be added, and to top it off we used a DEBIT card!! Still charged the fee. When we were directed to the owner, she pretended like she was just an employee and told us to write down our info so she could pass it along (ie toss it). Needless to say, we won’t...

We stopped in here for a fish fry on a Friday night while vacationing in the area. We were very happy with the place. The place was well lit and very clean. (Our visit was just after the COVID19 lockdown). They had good, clean barriers up around the bar (soft plastic).

All of the staff was very friendly and excellent to us.

We all had the Lightly Breaded Haddock, which came with a good choice of potatoes. The fish was good and the sides were the standard Wisconsin Fish Fry sides.

Overall we really enjoyed our visit here and it looks like it would have a nice nightlife...
