Iv been to this course twice and both times my group and I had bad experiences.
1st time we were a 4 sum and we were being rushed and told to play faster when we clearly were waiting for the sum in front of us to play. We were warned two times in 4 holes. We let the person know we are waiting for the group ahead and he totally disregarded what I said, scuffed and drove off.
2nd time, 08/26/25 I had a tee time of 3:36 two sum. And the condescending woman behind the counter allowed us to pay for 18 holes, then had the nerve to say “I don’t think you’re getting 18 in today”. And continued “make sure the cart is back by 7:45.” We are a two sum and it’s 3:30. That’s over 4 hours. We drive to the starter, the starter had the same attitude. “I don’t think you’re doing 18. Maybe 9”. Again, why take my money for 18 holes then tell me there’s a possibility you’re only getting 9 holes in today.
There’s two things apple green needs to change then. Move up your twilight hours to charge me accordingly and/or when I go to pay at the desk tell me your concern of fitting 18 holes in because of lots of groups in front, some type of gathering (which there was) etc. I’d gladly understand and PAY FOR 9 holes instead of 18 and risk being told to leave after 9.
Staff is rude. Their tone is terrible. The attitude and comments “dont think you’re getting in 9”, bring the cart back by 7:45 (over 4 hours away) smart ass remarks. There are nicer ways to talk to people.
These two experiences are with 4 different people. Everyone is rude. Driving range prices are expensive. Will never go back.
Course is very nice, wide open, great for beginners, gorgeous views, fun holes. That’s why I gave two stars...
Read moreAmazing course and restaurant and such a great staff. We hosted our New Paltz Athletic Dept. Golf Tournament there on April 26th for the 13th straight year and it was another very successful event. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly from planning the event to the day-of to clean-up. The course is spectacular and even with rain on and off all week and rain the day of, we were able to get the event in without any issues. The course is a must play if you are coming to this area - it is well kept and the views are beautiful - you will not be disappointed.
The BBQ dinner is always a hit and the restaurant did an awesome job preparing for our large group. I highly recommend the course for any big tournaments and events and highly recommend the restaurant as well. All the meat dishes were dynamite and the cornbread and mac and cheese are must adds!
Also, we used the Barn on hole 20 for our dinner and it is a must see! The staff did an awesome job preparing the Barn to look beautiful for our end of event reception and even brought in heating lamps to help with the chilly temps. It is the perfect open set-up if it is a beautiful day (You will leave with some amazing pictures!!!), but even in colder temps with rain, they can cover the sides and make it the perfect venue. If you are looking to get married, check it out! Thank you again to the staff for...
Read moreI bought a weekend home in Highland 3 years ago and have played approximately 120 rounds at this course, almost entirely on the weekends. After a brutal winter in 2014 the course opened in April in fairly rough shape and it took almost a month until it was back to its "normal" fine playing conditions. You find a great number of Westchester and New Jersey golfers who play here regularly to enjoy a 4 hour round with beautiful views, terrific greens and wonderfully maintained fairways. The staff (both in the pro-shop and the starters) are friendly and welcoming and there is a great variation in the holes (doglegs, over water, elevation changes, etc. to make the round interesting and challenging. As to pace of play, I never had a round over 4:15 and have played in under 3 hours on a few lucky occasions. Although I generally play form the white tees, if you man-up and play from the tips, the course becomes a good challenge even for some of the big hitting members who I have had the pleasure of playing with this year. The greens are what makes this course fun to play and it takes more than a few rounds around the front 18 to begin to master them. The price for this course is fair given the first class maintenance and great pace of play. I have met some great "folks" here and look forward to next season at...
