5 stars. Had to post a review because of all the negative posts from prior to what now appears to be new ownership.

I randomly came in here with my brother tonight and had a great experience, relative to the type of small pub and grill we were looking for.

People were having a good time playing pool, good chill music, and folks moved over at the bar offering to create space for my brother and I to sit down.

Bartender proceeded to great us cheerfully and recommend good menu options without being prompted (I love that).

Contrast this with the experience we had at the bar Jackson’s Hole down the road where the bartender was rude, inattentive, and people stared at you like an outsider when you walked in the door.

I rarely write reviews, but felt completed to do so, given some of the lazy reviews in here. Ex “not open on Sundays - 1 star“ ; “bread with the fish was like wonder bread - 1 star”. Important to calibrate expectations…one does not stop into a bar in Lyons thinking they’re in Lake Geneva. Or so I would have...

My boyfriend and I stopped in just to grab a quick lunch and were happily surprised to find out that today was the first day the new owner (Josh) was offering a home-cooked fish fry menu, lovingly planned and prepared by his incredible chef Jason. Jason is a true gem and an amazing cook - every detail is thoughtfully executed. His passion for cooking shines through in every dish. We ordered one of everything and shared our baskets to sample it all, I only wish we had taken photos of it because it all looked as good as it tasted. The oversized shrimp were lightly battered and perfectly seasoned; the Ahi tuna sandwich, homemade coleslaw and rice and beans (with collard greens) were all super delicious - but the jalapeño clam hush puppies were my faves and were absolutely amazing! The service and atmosphere of the entire bar is warm, inviting and very welcoming. I have been there a few times in the past few weeks to check out the new management. I had the fish fry and it was VERY Good. Fish was crispy outside, tender inside. Potato pancakes were perfect. I love the ones that are a little thick, chunky and crispy. Yummy. Friday nights are really busy for the staff to wait on everyone at once. We were patient and had a great meal.
