We went here on vacation last year and had a great time/experience we wanted to go again this year and make it a tradition however we were treated so poorly by our server…Patty…. That we will not be returning. We were looking forward to going here all year and to celebrate my husbands 40th bday. Patty told us the specials , rudely brought us our drinks and then began to take our order abruptly acting annoyed if any questions were asked. I was actually scared to place my order and my children’s orders. When it got to me I asked her to please leave off the “parsley” sprinkled on top of the fettuccine as we knew our son last year did not like it as much on. She rolled her eyes and said “ I can’t , I won’t be able to get there in time and they’ll still put it on” and then said “ what and why is he allergic??” It was not ok to treat paying customers this way. When food arrived of course it was on there ( she almost did it purposely at that point) I told her and she began to grab my child’s plate away when another member of our party didn’t even get their food yet. I had to pull the plate back and say “ no that’s ok, he’ll just eat it”. She acted so angry about it I was scared she would take it back and remove herself with her fingers or spit in his food. She gave me the nastiest stare down when I said “ this is not ok to be treated like this”. We were nervous to ask anything else. Why is it such a big deal to not put the “ garnish” on top while it’s done? There should be a button or note button in the computer? All of a sudden we had a new server come who was sooo great, friendly and nice. We were relieved! I’m sure the other server went to her and complained about us although we did not do anything wrong. It’s appalling that at such a nice, fun place that isn’t cheap by the way.. we could be treated like that. We definitely did not want to stay and celebrate with dessert. I really enjoyed my cod. It was delicious. Other family members enjoyed their food also but the food came cold and the perch had bones in it. We told the new server the issue at the end and she apologized multiple times to us and was just so nice! It stinks that the whole experience had to be ruined for all of us. We were there special and we just didn’t get the good server at the beginning. Beware to ask any questions and just get what you get and pay for it! I really hope our new server got a bit of the 50 dollar tip we left! Unfortunately, I do not recommend...
Read morePlain and simple the food was terrible....... 3 days before my girlfriend and I decided to go there for dinner we went on the internet and look at a menu. Menu looked wonderful...... All sorts of food.... I was really looking forward to the veal marsala. We arrived early, and I asked the lady in charge if we could go upstairs to take a look at the bedroom..... She replied no we are not doing tours today! Very rudely. We sat down at our table, somewhere in a corner. You could tell the restaurant was dirty, cobwebs and dust everywhere. The waitress stops over and give us a piece of paper with about 10 things on the menu. I looked at her and said where's the rest of the menu, she said that's it that's the menu. I looked at her in disbelief, there was no veal on the menu. She said all that's an old menu on the internet...... The menu was on their website. I thought maybe you need to change it. My girlfriend ordered the duck, and I ordered the chicken marsala. She drops off a basket of dinner rolls that was ice cold. There was only two in the basket....... The dinner came with soup or salad we had the soup and it was wild rice, it tasted terrible no flavor at all. It also felt like they made it and then put it in a blender blenderized it. What is the worst I've ever had in my life. My girlfriend said the duck was okay that she had better, however my veal marsala was burnt on one side, and the cook decided to put the Burnside to the bottom of the plate instead of making me a new one. I was told after I left the restaurant, that the restaurant is for sale and they have a limited menu. I will not be returning to...
Read moreBefore I post this and before you plan on going here for dinner, keep in mind that the menu prices are pretty high here, around $20-$30 for the entrees.
That being said?
The lodge is in itself gorgeous in an old world sort of way, the staff is highly professional and cheery, as well as knowledgeable about the history of the place.
We arrived very early and were able to look around the grounds and take pictures before anyone else arrived, which I would recommend as this place gets busy quickly. The bar opens at four PM and the restaurant opens an hour later. My party of six walked in and were welcomed by the barkeep, Will, and he was more than happy to show us around and talk about the shooting and what went down. Our tab for five drinks ended up around being $12 or so, myself having an old fashioned which was quality.
Dinner was superb. Portions were generous and my chicken cordon bleu was divine. The dish came with a side of potatoes (your choice how the potatoes are done) and either soup or salad. We each ordered something different and got to sample each others plates, and every dish was just as outstanding. Well worth the price considering the history, atmosphere, setting and the food tasted like you're eating twenty bucks. We had in no particular order; Chicken Cordon Bleu, Chicken Picatta, Broasted Chicken, Little Bo Burger, Chicken Alfredo, Garlic Bread. I'm sure everything else will taste just as good.
I highly recommend checking this place out, make a family event out of it. Not only is it delicious, beautiful and serene, it is historical, interesting and holds a sort of mystique to...
