I would give this place 10 stars if i could. this review may get long but it will be worth the read. my wife and i wanted to celebrate our ten year anniversary with a romantic dinner. to preface this we are both vegan so finding a good vegan restaurant let a romantic one has its own challenges. i googled romantic vegan restaurants and got a list of about 100. i checked out the top ten that stated they had vegan options. i went to each of their websites and looked at the menu. after looking at all ten menus i found very little vegan items so i decided to call each restaurant. all i can say is boy was i shocked at the response i go from the restaurants when i inquired about whether or not they truly had vegan options for dinner. The replies ranged from whatever is on the menu is what we have, and when i mentioned that there were very few and in some cases no vegan options i was often met the the curt reply "well that's all we have, take it or leave it". when i asked further questions about why they promoted their restaurant as being vegan i get even more curt replies ranging from "that's not my job" to "if you don't like it than you don't have to eat here!" well after discussing this with my wife we resolved ourselves to the fact that we were not going to have a romantic dinner out. not being one to give up easy the following day i googled fancy supper clubs near me. The Belvedere came up top of the list. i called and dal, the owner, answered the phone, right from the beginning of our conversation i could tell he had fantastic customer service. He asked what year anniversary it was, it was ten, when i asked about vegan options he said they had none but would be happy to make something special just for us. he asked what my wife wanted and told me his wife, pat, the cook, would make it and for me, im a "fussy" vegan he said i could bring my own food and Pat would cook it. Amazing, never heard of this before. when we got to the restaurant we had a private table by a fireplace, there was bouquet of flowers on the table, daffodils, the ten year anniversary flower, in a tin watering can, the metal for 10 years, a beautiful center piece that Pat his wife made for us, the number ten on our table, and a heart shaped box of vegan chocolates. they had a DJ playing songs and even played a special anniversary song for us. we had a fantastic romantic evening and at the end of it they gave us all the table fixings to take home!! all of it. we will most definitely be going back there for even casual dining even though its an hours drive from our home. The entire staff knows the meaning of truly great customer service! Dale made sure we had a night to remember, shared stories of his family and the history of the Belvedere and even gave us a bottle of sparkling juice to take home. This is the best customer service i have experienced in the last 10 years and as a business owner myself i truly...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! This place has delusions of grandeur. The first sign that maybe I was not in the right place for a romantic valentines evening was when we were sat down with place mats bragging about how it won prizes... about ten years ago. The only other place I've been to that does that..., well never mind. We ordered the buffet. For a restaurant that charges $16 for a buffet, the salad bar is minimal. There is only one choice of vegetable. Barbeque ribs were cold. There is either the choice of Well done prime rib or rare, no in between which was also cold. It was almost as tough as what we had at the Red Mill once (another place I won't go to anymore). No flavor. Dessert was basically a chocolate fountain with a few things you could dip and three pans of cake. I am allergic to chocolate, so the strawberries I could have were under-ripe and tasteless. The cake was tasteless (box mix). We thought maybe it would be alright because we had a $15 voucher/coupon from Deal Chicken which we'd paid $7.50 for. (50% off deal). We got the original bill for two buffets and coffee with sales tax came to $36.86 which was brought to our table to be paid. A credit card and the deal chicken voucher was given to the waitress to be processed. When she brought it back the final amount on the charge card slip was ..... $28.50!!! What happened to the $15.00 discount???? We went to the Checkout Counter and asked the woman about the our bill. She was totally bewildered and says "I don't know how to do this, I just work here" She then got us the manager/owner who showed us the break down of the bill which now had an 18% ($6.64) gratuity added onto the bill!!! Where was my added savings???? When the manager/owner was confronted about the gratuity stating that we had left one one table, He stated "My accountant says I have to charge an 18% gratuity on these coupons". The bill was so screwed up that when we arrived home we discovered two charges on our credit card for the same amount. We called a friend of ours who also dined at the restaurant when we were there. He and his mother both said the food was cold and wasn't up to the price with no variety. My husband asked him if he got charged a gratuity on the bill. He said he did not. He and his mother both had the buffet with a drink, so the bills should have been the same. He did say he paid with a hundred dollar bill and the clerk at the checkout paid in him $5 bills without giving him the 14 cents change which he also do but didn't realize until he had left. We called Deal Chicken and cancelled the Christmas gifts we had given to our family for this restaurant today as we don't want people we love to have this experience. I would rather buy...
Read moreMy family had a horrible experience on Easter 2018. First they stood in line outside for way to long. Then they were double charged gratuity before they even made it inside the building. When the owner (who was the one collecting the money and charging the double gratuity) was questioned, he wouldn’t listen at all. But instead just used his authorative position to basically ignore them.
The food was beyond bad. The beef tips and gravy were really just gravy, the meat was cold and the cookies could have been used as hockey pucks (they were so hard).
When I contacted the owner, he immediately put the blame on “the girl”, who apparently, “didn’t know the process.” Maybe he should have let her know what the process was.
Then he blamed the credit card machine, however we didn’t use a credit card, but paid cash. Once again he took no responsibility for HIS extremely rude behavior, or the fact that it was him personally doing the overcharging of his customers.
He did offer a free buffet to my Mom. However since he would take zero accountabilty in what he himself did to cause the issue, but instead put the blame elsewhere, she turned it down.
We have been there many many times in the past and have had good experiences. We will not be going back. From the double charging of something that is based on a service received that you were forced to pay before you even entered the building, to the poor quality of the food, to the rude and dismissive way the owner treats his very own customers. I can not In good conscious recommend is place to anyone.
I will stay far away and that is what I suggest...
