Spent an early dinner with my daughter and her husband at this campground/restaurant/ beach and for all practical purposes, it was fairly enjoyable.
The area is a local haunt for people living in the Janesville/Milton area, and there are seasonal camping lots to be rented as well as water entertainment with swimming, boating, and I would imagine fishing. It's a nice area and the crowd was varied in age from young singles to larger families with children, as well as a retired contingent out enjoying the weather/ambiance and a few adult beverages with their meal. Meals ranged from appetizers to burgers to prime rib and lobster on a Saturday evening. There is a full bar and dining, both inside and out. We chose outside, listening to the vocals and music from a local artist.
My daughter and I had the prime rib with baked potato and my son in law had a tasty looking burger and fries. The food was good, prepared as we asked, and short of trying to consume our prime rib with plastic forks and knives, ample in portion. We ordered a nacho plate to share as an appetizer prior to the meal, but were a bit surprised by what might best be described as a taco salad, with lots of large pieces of lettuce about 3 tablespoons of ground taco meat and whole avocado slices. There was something akin to a lime flavored ranch dressing sparingly drizzled over the vegetables and corn chips, and a light dusting of shredded American cheese topping the whole thing off. Not a cheese sauce, but a small amount of cheese sprinkled lightly over the dish. It wasn't bad, but we all agreed that if you had your heart set on nachos dripping in meat and cheese sauce, even the fresh avocado slices weren't going to make this dish resemble what you had in mind. It was really more of a salad with multi colored corn chips.
Our server was polite enough, young, and probably new at her position, so I would imagine if we went back later in the summer we would find her to be more polished in her craft. I did find it a bit disconcerting that she had more metal in her facial jewelry than was in our plastic cutlery, but perhaps because of the beach-type ambiance of the place, I was the one that needed to "get with the program" and just enjoy myself. It was an interesting experience, both the food and the company was very good, and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I were in...
Read moreCalled to ask about potentially having Lakeview host a private event for my group. After briefly explaining why I was calling and asking to speak with an event manager, I was put on âhold.â As the phone was set down I could still hear the conversation between the employee I called and who I assume was a manger of sorts. The person in the background did not want to get on the phone and was very dismissive about the information her employee was telling her. She instructed her employee to inform me that the manager is out of down and didnât seem to want to deal with the event. Itâs a Monday and rainy here today, thought I could at least get some information from someone.
It would have been 200-400 people cycling through the event and for most, this would have been their first time here. I used to love Lakeview. I was intending to bring in some new business from around the state while also satisfying a large party with food, beverage, and entertainment. We are also associated with an amazing band, as some of our member play in it. We hoped to have them play throughout the night at no cost to Lakeview. Hope to have a better experience with a another bar in the area. Good luck to Lakeview but I do miss their phenomenal...
Read more!!! MY REVIEW WAS DELETED BECAUSE THEY DIDNT WANT THE PUBLIC TO SEE!!! The company tries to keep things âhushâ but fail miserably every time and continue this pattern of behavior. The owners of this company are highly racist and homophobic. They claim to be friendly to all, but have been caught constantly making comments about people in other communities outside of cis white communities. The atmosphere created in this business is gross. Itâs shameful as Iâd love to enjoy food by the lake, but I canât see myself supporting a business that doesnât support its community and lies about it online. I will not be returning and Iâll make sure to let others know so they donât provide further business. Itâs a shame that you canât run a business off of love and acceptance from everyone who helps keep your restaurant running. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but if youâre running a restaurant, itâs best to keep those to yourself to keep new and returning customers comfortable to support. If I could rate zero...
