Had gone a few weeks ago, party of 5, and was pleased with service and food with the exception of the relish tower. Made reservation and returned again expecting a similar experience and was deeply disappointed and infuriated. Seated in the "game room" which is an area approximately 8X10 with video poker machines and littered with empty booze boxes and extra chairs. Basically a storage area! The very small high top table was adorned with 3 paper placemats. We were an afterthought! Service was apparently considered an annoyance on the part of the staff. Appetizer of onion rings, all 4 of them, arrived with a squeeze bottle of ketchup. Found out later that the onion rings had been spilled and that was what was left. Had to ask for salt and pepper 3 times, 1 order baked onion soup was forgotten with the excuse that the oven couldn't accommodate the soups ordered. We had to clear the disgusting relish tray from the tiny table to the top of stack of discarded booze boxes on the floor. When we couldn't abide the experience any longer we asked to see the owner. 10 minutes later someone, not the owner, showed up only to be dismissive. The owner, 15 minutes later, showed up only to raise his voice, complained about another party holding up another table, and said he was "holding back his anger" and announced he had sweaty armpits. Seriously! We stood up, requested a bill immediately for what we has consumed thus far and left. NEVER WILL WE RETURN AND NEVER WILL RECOMMEND THIS S%#& SHOW TO ANYONE! Apparently by the owner's response his recollection of who interrupted who is lacking. How about never expecting a customer to be crammed in a littered storage area. How about calling customer ahead when you saw a table traffic jam in process. How about explaining the mismanaged seating dilemma upon...
Read moreMy wife and I visited the Stagecoach Inn today Tuesday July 16. It is unlikely that we will return given the very disappointing meal that neither of us enjoyed. We both ordered Canadian walleye. My wife ordered deep fried while I ordered broiled. We each ordered baked potato. Things went wrong almost from the start. Although my martini was acceptable the salad left much to be desired. It was a basic iceberg lettuce salad with very little in the way of garnishment. Moreover, the iceberg lettuce was limp. When the walleye arrived, my wife's was acceptably warm while mine was barely lukewarm. My potato was acceptable but my wife's potato barely melted the butter. The fish was not flaky and had a sickening gray almost translucent pallor suggesting that it had not been long out of the freezer. At least, not long enough. Even after asking that the fish be reheated, the gray pallor and softness of the fish made it barely edible. The presentation of the meals was unappetizing, as well. The fish was served on limp lettuce with tartar sauce and two lemon wedges. The potato was served on a separate plate in tinfoil. Service was marginal. The waitress did not check to see if the meals were satisfactory until my wife was done with hers. In the meantime I waited for mine to be reheated. True, they were busy, but that's not my problem. The Stagecoach Inn used to have a good reputation as a supper club. Those days are gone. In all sincerity, I cannot recommend that the Stagecoach Inn. If you are in the Milton/Janesville area, I recommend instead Fredericks in Milton or the Milwaukee Club...
Read moreMy parents, husband and I recently visited this past Sunday evening for dinner to check out the new digs. Though everyone was friendly and the interior was definitely roomier (with a nice wall with a built in wine bar - apparently for looks??), there is still only so much "lipstick you can put on a pig". There may have been more seating and more room added in the bar area, but it comes down to the little details. We all ordered an Old-fashioned and we were all disappointed. We ordered them sweet and they came all booze and mix, no sweet. A true Supper Club would muddle their Old-fashioneds (this way doesn't take long to make). My Mom's silverware had food on it (which looks like silverware found in a High School cafeteria - cheap and flimsy). When we asked the waitress if there was a wine list, she said (while pointing to the nice wine bar area) there is not for any of this but at the bar we have Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, etc. So basically house wines only. The food was okay. I had a ribeye and if I didn't have the sautéed onions, the steak would have no flavor. My Dad and husband each had a sirloin and neither one had any seasonings on them. My Mom had the broiled cod and she thought it was delicious. At the end of dinner, we weren't asked if we wanted any dessert. Again, though employees were friendly and the service was so-so, I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. I hope that you take this constructive criticism and act on it. Like I said, it is all in the little details and it doesn't hurt to invest a bit in the...
