I was excited to come here based on my visits in the past and what I mean by past I mean a couple of years ago as most recent. This was to be a family, my family Easter get together meal at noon at this place. I guess you could have called it a brunch buffet type of meal but only the waitresses bring everything to you from the kitchen. At first when we all got there we noticed that the family table's weren't situated the way we would have preferred 4 R 13 member family seating. Happily the two waitresses obliged change the configuration of the tables and everything was good. Know this place was cold at first but they turned on the heat and it quickly became warm. The Ambiance in this place and especially in the older section is unbeatable. The bathrooms were for the most part kept and clean. The bar area had a real nice warm glow to it, especially with the low lighting, I liked it. Now to the most important part at least to me. This fancy Easter meal was nothing but poorly put together chicken dinner that I paid $18 for!! what a pathetic pathetic joke! To add insult on to injury the chicken wasn't even that good. The corn which was definitely out of a can was something I might expect from a cheap open all night Diner or a truck stop, again pathetic! All the other food again was not even worth mentioning especially that poorly put together pumpkin pie and only one pie to choose from. To sum this experience up I felt as though I was scammed of my money and I actually feel bitter about it. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, and twice will never happen!! Oh and two stars only because of the ambiance....
Read moreI got to be a plus one with a friend going here for their Christmas party. Neither one of us drinks alcohol and they made us the most delicious, fun fruity drinks. They also had the most delectable appetizers. Everything was so delicious. We got the most delicious salads which was almost a meal in itself. Then came the main course. We both got prime rib which was on point. It was very very tender. I could cut my meat with a fork. Everything was so delicious. The wait staff was also great. We really had a great time. I'd also like to know what kind of wheat they use for their bread. I am allergic to whole wheat. My symptoms are bloating, cramping and other digestive and intestinal problems that I won't go into. Sometimes I will eat bread or cake on special occasions, then take a Benadryl, but I will still have a few unpleasant symptoms regardless of taking Benadryl. Well I didn't have symptoms time. So I was wondering what kind of flour they use for their bread because it was really chewy and delicious and I could eat it without consequences! I'd really like to find out because I can sometimes have white bread flour with less consequences but I haven't been able to in a long time. I'm wondering if they use European flour? I've heard that people who are allergic to the hard wheat flour that is used in the US can have European flour because it's made with soft wheat...so I'm just kind of curious about what flour was used or if there was a special process in the making of the bread...because I...
Read moreThe server was good—she did her best and we had no complaints there. The food was unexceptional for the price. Prime rib was ok, fine but not better than most other prime ribs I’ve had, and overpriced at $44. The chowder was not good. The apps were average. The wine list was marginal and overpriced. One thing that puzzled me throughout the dinner was that empty finished plates were left on the table long after we’d finished a dish. The waitress tried to keep up but got zero help from the bussers. The bussers apparently believe their only job is to turn over new tables, even when standing in the dining room with nothing to do momentarily. I actually flagged down a busser who had nothing in her hands and ASKED her to pick up a few of our plates and she gave me a deer in the headlights terrified look, said nothing in response, and hurried away. Never came back. Didn’t even tell the waitress what I’d asked. Odd. Like I’d asked her to do a dance for us or sing a song. This is about standards and training, so I guess that management is more interested in turning the next table over than making sure those who are already seated are properly taken care of. I wanted to like the place more, but I’m afraid that the value wasn’t there for what they charge.
PS—I will remove this review when/if management acknowledges that it has been seen and my concerns have been taken into...
