I used to enjoy coming here, but in recent times, they have failed to maintain their stock in the humidor, and decor has become dated and dingy. Food and drinks are still ok. During the course of the pandemic, they did a great job to remain open throughout the crisis. I have now learned however, that one of the bartenders who worked throughout the entire crises, 6 days a week at one point, had been terminated, apparently for asking for a day off. The worst part is, the owner, lacked the fortitude to inform the now terminated bar tender in person, or over the phone. Instead, he opted to perform the termination by text message. I am not sure how much lower you can go as an employer, but that is extremely low. Do as you wish, but I recommend Dad's Cigar Warehouse in Nanuet for your cigar needs.

Schlesinger's is definitely a unique experience. It has an associated cigar bar which I'm not a fan of, but they have a non smoking dining area. The service was good. The house pickles (mild dill flavor) were decent, but the bread was cold and hard. I had a french onion soup that had good developed flavor. The salad had a lot of hearts in it that I'm not a fan of having in a side salad. They also have a small dressing selection. A had a filet and mashed potatoes. Everything was above average just not high end. The steak had a real strong iron taste and potatoes lacked seasoning. Overall it was a good experience, but a step below a Ruth's Chris or similar.

They have an ad in Saturday's paper September 2 featuring their shore dinner, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, after driving 43 miles to get there, on Tuesday, September 5th, they said that was over on Labor Day. No apologies or anything and the owner was hidden from clear sight. We were fortunate to find an outstanding restaurant less than 2 miles from there, called Citrus. Outstanding food, outstanding service and half the price. As for Chef, graduate of the culinary Institute of America, that is no way to deal with your customer. Well, I am no longer a customer. Shame on you!!!!!

I never go again since I had very terrible experience of their food and service. I went there with my 1year-old baby, my guest who used to work in Japan and newly started to work at the same company with my husband. I have no idea which foods other people ate delicious. The price: It's way over priced, really like NYC 5 star restaurant. Paid around $35 to $40 for burned steaks per each, it was too heavy and tendered made our jaws feel numb. The pasta what we tried was plain like other 7 dollar meal outside... Service: My group came earlier but had to stand for awhile. Also had to wait almost FOREVER to order. Even we ordered earlier than the next table, our foods came at very last and felt pushed by them to leave because they close soon. I was very upset how they cooked our steaks like stone-burned. I really didn't care at first about any race at there but felt totally gross and figured out we were the only group who did not have the same color with them. How surprised. Our dinner messed up and felt upset stomach cuz we had to finish within half an hour. My baby couldn't enjoy anything there. I brought left over steak but it was too rough and cheap quality. I paid around $210 but never EVER want to eat at here no more...:( very sad and upset experience. Spacious: Not as large as picture, No music but people looked elder ages. Even my guest felt they were very rude and disrespect customer. The server who seemed working part time was gentle but service time and all other moods to take that amount was unfriendly.

We never go there and it's been 3 years as of 2021. I really have no idea where these people got that tasty, juicy...

Dinner was finger-lickin good and my family throughly enjoyed it! We had a to-go order and were not disappointed. The burgers were soooo juicy! 🤤 I can appreciate a steakhouse that understands well-done doesn't mean burnt or dry. The food was made to perfection. Although salt and pepper can be added personally, adding those basics to the burgers would go a long way! The French Dip Au Jous was DELECTABLE however make sure to ask for extra for to-go orders as it is only half the plastic condiment cups for a fairly big sandwich. The salads were great as well! The greens were crisp and fresh. Everything was presented in a beautiful way. You can see the care and pride taken in how the food was being presented to the consumer. I appreciated that. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and recommend Schlesingers Steakhouse and would rate them a 4.5 if I could. As an aside, this is not my 1st encounter with Schlesingers food. I've eaten inside pre-covid, had take-out numerous times and even have attended events there but I must say their food has gotten much better and the energy I observed yesterday from the servers, to the host/hostess to the bar and even the patrons was amazing! It was VERY crowded. The aroma of steak and happiness filled the air! Check them out....

This is by far one of the best steakhouses around! I've been to "steakhouses" in 5 countries and very few compare to this one. The meats are aged to perfection and cooked the way you like it. The pickles that are served with the table are incredible and you can easily fill up just on those alone. Very nice atmosphere and charm of this old historic home. I have been disappointed there a couple of times when they were out of a particular cut of meat but it's not the end of the world, all of their steaks are good.

My only "beef" with this place is their bar/lounge downstairs. It's very comfortable and has ample ambiance and it's one of the only remaining bars that allow smoking in NY which makes it a real treat to sit down in their large leather chairs sipping fine whiskey and enjoying a fine cigar. The problem is with the terrible bartenders and nonsensical hours! Terrible drinks, terrible attitudes and the place closes at some odd hours...I've been there on a Friday night and they told me they're closing soon AT 11:00pm !

Don't be cheap and silly, just get some competent bartenders and leave the bar open to normal hours, this place will easily...
